All I hear about is the lack of faithfulness with Colombian males. I have seen it but not to the extent that everyone says in these forums. Anyway from my experience the Colombian women seem to be very faithful. Am I wrong but if the men are not faithful then who are they cheating with? Only the single women! I question that. I trust my fiancee more than anyone I have ever met. As a matter of fact I think that I have trusted every Colombian woman I dated. Am I naive?

SiempreHero says on Apr 13, 2005, 07:36: Naive for sure I can only speak about my experience. However, when i lived in COlombia a dated several girls, latter to find out that they were married, engaged, or had long time boyfriends. Most colombian girls will never tell you they have a boyfriend. The term Amigo is used to describe what in the US would be called a boyfriend. The term Novio is not used often, and if a girl tells strangers she has a novio she is most likely loyal. however, i rarely here girls describing thier amigos as novios. Sexual loyalty may not be the same as other loyalty. Colombianitas are loyal in other ways, even if they may not be able to keep their pants on. Maybe they just dont associate sex strictly with love.

jediknight says on Apr 13, 2005, 09:14: an amigo is not a boyfiend and isn't used to mean a boyfriend, just a good friend with benefits. not every amigo is a sex partner, sometimes an amigo is just that..a friend, nothing more. if a woman says she has an amigo and that person is more than just a friend, then they are lovers, sex partners.

VanMan says on Apr 13, 2005, 10:32: girls cheat, in north america, in colombia, in china Girls cheat everywhere. But from my experience in Colombia...4 of us, two girls and my buddy, drinking. We started making out only to have one boyfriend call a girl and the other boyfriend show up! hahaha. man. BTW: these were girls went to a very expensive university. So, poor, rich, they all do it. Just like the men. Men cheat everywhere. Women cheat everywhere.

utopiacowboy says on Apr 13, 2005, 11:00: Are you naive? Yes but that's ok. There are worse things in life than being naive. With the Colombianas, it's probably better to be extremely suspicious and let them earn your trust little by little. They are players. Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Cerealkiller says on Apr 13, 2005, 11:07: I dont think faithfulness is a cultural value...It all depends on the person, people cheat absolutely everywhere (perhaps it is a little bit more difficult in some places ie. Afghanistan). But then again isnt cheating a lot easier than keeping yourself from enjoying the so called heat of the moment? If you trust your gf then great and if she is indeed faithful then shes a keeper ;) Conservatives are not necessarily stupid, but most stupid people are conservatives -John Stuart Mill 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Brians says on Apr 14, 2005, 04:17: I don't think I am naive I agree with cerealkiller. I think that it is not a cultural value but rather a function of the person and their triats. Anyway I have a lot of experience with woman from all over the world. She would have to be up for an Oscar nomination for me not to believe her. Nobody is that good an actor. She would have also fooled all my Colombian friends many of whom are paronoid about Colombian woman. If I am being naive than I hope I never find out otherwise.

GAP says on Apr 14, 2005, 06:47: Not according to my caleño friend My caleño friend doesn't agree with you. He says that neither men nor women in Colombia have a tendency to be faithful (he himself has two girlfriends and they don't know about the existence of each other). However, he has a tendency to talk bullshit. For instance, he said that thrifty women don't exist in Colombia, but I found a paisa girl, who I have an interest in, who is thrifty even by my standards. I met her when she and a relative were hitch-hiking, as the bus fare between Rionegro and Medellin city centre was a bit excessive for them. She told me that she doesn't use the metro system in Medellin, as its too expensive for her (about 8000 pesos for 10 journeys if you are a student, which she is).

miamimike says on Apr 14, 2005, 07:55: Cultural mores do have a bearing I noticed in many Latin American Countries including Colombia that Cheating is more or less acceptable behavior. That is to say that in the cheating husband's case, after a few weeks, he was welcomed back into the family's graces. Here in the US he may be ostricized for a long time or forever and many times his wife would Divorce after one time of being cheated on. Cheaters do NOT stopafter one time-its usaually a long long addiction.Once a cheater, always a cheater. Yes, in Bogota the Wives(not all but many do)do Cheat, be they from nivel uno to nevel 6.I see that here in Miami also-it does not stop once someone moves here. Time of marriage seems not to have a bearing on the cheating as I saw one wife who cheated on her husband with whom she had 32 years of marriage with and it was NOT the first time. Caveat Emptor. "Wait a minute. What did you just say? You're predicting $4-a-gallon gas? That's interesting. I hadn't heard that." -- Feb. 28, 2008 --George W. Bush, Washington, D.C. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

morphus says on Apr 14, 2005, 08:45: cheating is not a big problem in Colombia. i have seen worse in Cuba and Dominican Republic. i remember in Cuba when a girl i knew showed me pictures of her aunts wedding. she married a Mexican guy. everybody looked happy. the guy was decent looking. the aunt came back to Cuba from Mexico and was staying at my girls house. i woke up early one morning and saw a big black Cuban guy in bed with the aunt. he was on top of her...lol.
