The smell of a farm. It is hard to describe - flowers, fruit trees, pollen, cows and horses, the smell from the kitchen while the ladies are cooking up a meal.

I still remember the bad smell from the Medellín river from back in the day before they "cleaned" it out. It was naaaaasty and every time our bus had to go over it I would cover my nose and gag all the way home.

But I also remember the smell of a Premio with an empanada.
The smell of an estadero when going out swimming.
The smell of candles when you walk into a church.
The smell of smog when going to the centro in Medellín. It's nasty but, it's home.
The smell of flowers when going to Campos de Paz.

The smell of a chiva in the Guajira, people stink caked with endurance.

Robert_Jorge, I wasn't referring to the diesel smell at all.. The air has a very unique scent on the climb to Barichara.. I don't know what it is.. sort of sweet.. but it stands out to me from the smell of the air in other outdoor places in Colombia. It is the smell of relaxation and tranquility to me... if you haven't been, I reccomend it.

the smell of the upper floor of the old family house.. cottage-like with the aged timbers.
