Hi,
I was supposed to join my guy and move to Cali this summer, however he might have to move to Bogotá for his work.. so now I have a question..
In Bogotá city (so not up in the mountains), is it possible to wear tanks/tees and sandals all year??
How is the weather over there..?
I just know Cali and I love the warmth.. so I just wanna know how it is with Bogotá!!!
Any response is appreciated!!

Aji1 says on Mar 15, 2007, 06:07: Bogota Weather Bogota is nice if you like it cool. It is definitely in the mountains boasting an altitude of over 8,300 feet. That is also why the weather is a little weird sometimes, very variable, but I like it. If it is rainy in the morning it will be warm and sunny in the afternoon. If sunny in morning it will be raining with sleet and hail in the afternoon. If it is hailing in the morning it is a sure sign of the apocalypse, run like hell. It should take a solid ten years to start seeing wear marks on that tank top.

Aji1 says on Mar 16, 2007, 21:03: Tongue in Cheek Humor A little tongue in cheek humor. The weather is highly variable it seems to me which is not entirely atypical of a high altitude location. I mean come on, I saw on RCN the other day that somewhere in the north of Bogotá or in Chia, somewhere around the savanna I don't remember exactly, they got almost two inches of sleet from a thunderstorm. I did post some non-biased links she could check out and see for herself. Moron?? I don't think so but you never know. I do have my "Homer" moments however. (Laugh Here! Overly serious people laugh doubly hard.)

Seems like whenever I visit Bogota, the Late Afternoon Rains follow me as reliably as the Sun rises in the morning. That late afternoon Rain is cold as Hell(nothing as cold and miserable as a late day Bogota rainstorm) and make sure you stand way back from Curbside Puddles as I swear the Bus Drivers Aim for 'em to splash a good load of dirty Industrial streetwater on a person for sport and pleasure,,, "Wait a minute. miamimike says on Mar 19, 2007, 12:25: Holllywood, On my first trip I wasn't prepared with Raingear and payed a very wet price for it! On subsequent trips, I never made the mistake again ;now I always have my small rainsuit in my backpack. On those Umbrellas, that first trip to Bogota in '94 we searched high and low for Umbrellas, as in most Spanish Countries at the first drop of Rain, seems the Umbrella venders are out on every major streetcorner. That wasn't our case in Bogota-good business oppurtunity,,LOL We couldn't find one and worse, we searched the small stores for a rain poncho and/or umbrella and couldn't find either so for other trips I always pack my own Gear and stay dry. Nothing worse then walking into a Cold Hotel room(no heaters in bogota hotel rooms at least where I have stayed)in the evening soaked to the bone,,,,My Hiker sneakers are Goretex lined also,,, "Wait a minute. Lostgringo says on Mar 20, 2007, 04:21: City of Eternal Spring Mario I have heard Medellin referred to as the city of eternal spring and also Guatalajara Mexico but not Bogota. Am I missing something? Miami Mike when I was in Bogota last year I saw all kinds of people running around with umbrellas. Maybe that has changed since you were there. I kept losing mine and bought 3 or 4 while I was there. You are right about them coming out of the woodwork when ir rains lol. Mr. Hollywood says on Mar 21, 2007, 14:58: Eternal spring I think some idiot christened it that because he noticed that flowers tend to bloom all year in Bogota. Of course they bloom all year ANYWHERE in the tropics that isn't covered in snow, so that's a hell of a name.
