Container Ships A friend of mine is Captain on a container ship. He told me that most of their ships have a few passenger berths available. He runs a Houston/Galveston route up the east coast, then across to various European ports to Hamburg, Germany, then back. Roundtrip time is 3 months. He told me of other routes, like Caribbean ports (including Colombia) then down South American Atlantic coast. Another is down and up Pacific coast, also including Colombia(Buenoventura) - some then cut across to Japan/Asia. Some do the Panama Canal as well.

I wouldn't know where to ask for info, maybe the container companies, but many ships are run by different companies. I would not recommend a ship under Asian flag. I heard horror stories about them. I guess a Google search would be a place to start.
