Singles Nights

Hey does anyone know if Bogota has singles nights? In Aus they used to have awsome balls called Desperate and Dateless, or if you werea country lad/lass called B and S balls - which were really great parties and a good place to mix and huge on teh social calander. Do they have anything like that in Colombia? The nearest I have seen is Lunabar where they put a little note on your chest, and one in Par 93 on a Wednesday which closed.

If you are a well dressed, young gringo, sober, that speaks enough Spanish to carry on a conversation, every night is ladies night in Cali, but maybe not in Barranquilla, according to Elmo.

Bogota? I don't know. I just go there to go to the embassy when I absolutely must, and leave on a flight later the same day. The people and the weather are too cold for me. Unless you already live there, may I suggest setting up shop in Medellin.

Mitch, I've only been to Medellin with my wife, so I don't know the hot spots. Others can chime in here. It is a beautiful, reasonably well maintained city, and has lots of beautiful Paisas.

I'll summarize some observations about Cali hotspots. These are all in the North, except Juanchito.
1.) Avenida Sexta between Calle 15 and 17 on Thursday to Saturday nights. I live very near there.
2.) The Chipichape shopping Mall just after dark, if you speak Spanish, for meeting women.
3.) The suburb of Juanchito, because the night clubs stay open way past Cali's hours. I've never been to Juanchito, but it costs about 10,000 pesos by taxi to get there.
4.) The Blue Brothers club on Avenida 6A, owned by an American. I was bummed because it was 9:00 on a Saturday night, and there were no customers, and no music. The band was supposed to start at 11:00, so we left. Too late for us. If the owner is reading this, start the music much earlier, and offer free snacks until the band begins.
5.) When in despair, ask a taxi driver to take you to a casa de chicas.
