¿Simple steps for hooking up Skype?

I would like to know what I need to hook up Skype service with a handheld phone in my apartment. How does the service work?

hi there, I'm assuming you have internet service as well as an earphone set with a microphone, It really doesn't matter whether you have a phone or not, what it matters is that you have an earphones/microphone unit. Download Skype into your computer if you haven't done so. If you do goto Account and buy Skype credits, you can use your credit card or your PayPal account if you have one, and voila, it's done. You can now make your phone calls. A word of advise buy $10.00 at a time, since after a while if you don't use you loose it., also you cannot transfer your credit to another computer and you must use the same account you used first to buy your credits.

I have used Skype every day for the last 2 years, either making phone calls or computer use, in Barranquilla or in the states, and so far without a problem.

I hope this helps you.

Only correction that I have... If you use it every 3 months for a phone call and pay, then it will continue (your credit) forever. joe

I have a computer and a friend bringing me two skype phones in a few months. I´m interested in purchasing a Skype phone because I would like to allow my neighbors and a few friends use the phone to call family back in the states. I have seen a few hotels offer free Skype calls to guests and would like to set up somethng similiar. I was under the impression that you had a monthly fee with unlimited calls to the US, am I wrong? Thanks for the replies.

I'm using the Logitech hand held phone with Windows Vista and it works perfectly.

The instructions from Logitech and Skype are rather confusing, but the following is what finally worked for me. I had conflicts with the microphone and speakers settings until I finally found the problem.

First, download and install Skype and any other software from your hand held phone.
Open the menu in Skype and select Tools, options. In my case I see the option for Logitech for the microphone and speakers. Select your approiate Micro/Speakers and then save them as the default. (under Skype)

Your Miro/speakers within windows will be different.
