Short-term Apt Rental in Medellin (Poblado) - 4-5 days

I already did a search and did not see where anyone addressed this area. Mostly regarding long-term (1 month+) rentals.

Does anyone specifically know of any decent apartments/hotels in Poblabo for under COP$140.000/nite? It would be for 4-5 days. Unable to locate anything in El Colombiano so far either.

I was in Medellin last month and stayed at Hotel/Edificio Torre Poblado for COP$140.000/nite. I know that was a lot, but wasn't trying to stay in the Playboy Penthouse (no disrespect), or the Dann Carlton (all of that not needed for me), or Plaza Rosa (too noisy, same price as Torre Poblado), or Intercontinental (away from everything) either.

The Torre Poblado was very nice, and located perfectly for me. I should do a review on it. I like it, my girl was pretty impressed with it, and I would stay there again if I'm unable to find something similar at a lower price.

I would just prefer to spend less in Medellin. In Bogota (Zona Rosa/El Norte), Cartagena (Laguito/Bocagrande), & Barranquilla (El Prado/El Norte), I never have paid as much in Colombia, and this is staying in similar upscale neighborhoods as Poblado.

Just asking for other alternatives. Figured I'd try here.

Furnished Apartments Search for "apartamentos amoblados" over at paginasamarillas.com.co

You can find many furnished apartments in El Poblado for less than 140K pesos/day. I stayed at one in Laureles, which is another nice neighborhood in Medellin, a couple years ago for 70K/day.

try La Provincia Torre (tower) they are on 10B 2 blocks above Viscaya mall, and across the street from the Carulla's supermarket.

they are on a side street across from Carulla's at the end of the cull de sac.

they rent for about $40 a day or less (90,000 pesos) and have full time security guards, TV, telephone, and breakfast included. Rentals may be cheaper by the week.

I have stayed there twice. the rooms are smaller but nice! with balcony.

Thx for those tips I will check them out and follow back up.

Npaul - by any chance, got a number for La Provincia Torre? I see listing on the paginasamarillas.com.co for a "APARTAHOTEL ED. LA PROVINCIA" on Cr 30A 9-45. When I stayed at the Torre Poblado, it was located on Cra 42 between Calle 9 & 10. I was able to walk over to the Carulla on Calle 11 & Cra. 40 (??? - it was down the hill one block). But, is this the same place you're referring to?

go2pr Torre Poblado is the shit!!! Except for the price, but understandable from their point of view.

Located on Carrera 42 No. 9-28 (www.torrepoblado.com)
Tel: 0-11-57-4-268-0244
Corporate Rate: COP$110.500 (140.000 after taxes and security fee)

My apartment had a balcony outside the living room area and the bedroom. Full kitchen. A/C available, but not needed. Hot water. Safe in closet. Desk for business. Cable TV, although I rarely used it. Dining table area. Bathroom was kinda small and funky to operate as there were doors to enter it from the living room/hall area and from the bedroom. Kind of a tight squeeze, but the shower had ample space. Daily maid service. 24 hour security downstairs. Dedicated taxi service available in the daytime, at night, they will call one for you. All metered. Internet cafe/calling center around the corner and down the hill one block on 9. Laundry service available.

It's located two blocks down the hill on 9th from Parque Lleras. Great for weekend partying, as traffic is crazy in that area. It's about 8-10 blocks downhill from Centro Commercial Vizcaya as well. I was pretty unimpressed with that mall, as most of the stores were closed on a Friday. Not sure why. There is a BodyTech in front of it as well.

Oveida was a 5 minute taxi ride away. Tesero was maybe 10 minutes away. Exito Poblado was about 6 blocks downhill on Calle 10. Carulla was 2-3 blocks away on Calle 11 or 12 and Cra. 42. Plenty of restaurants and bars within walking distance. Bancolombia was uphill on 10 about 3 blocks.

I'll post a couple photos in my image gallery of the views from inside and from the balcony.

Hope that helps.

Thanks Tolenoc Very comprehensive answer, a true quality post. Torre Poblado seems a nice place to stay.

On my last stay in Medellin I didn't workout, yet plan to find a good gym next time in town.

Do you know if Body Tech Poblado is the best in town for exercise and eye-candy ?

Cheers.

There are several Body Techs around town.

I saw a little eye candy in the Vizcaya location. I'm sure it's fairly loaded with "talent", considering it's Medellin we're talking about, not Alabama. LOL!!!!
