PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post

short film ideas?

to all PBH "poster'ers" hope you are enjoying the holiday season.

i would really appreciate some ideas for a short film (corto)in colombia.

i have a few already, but i have faith that the PBH people can give me some more.

seriously, much appreciated.

(not really wanting to make a corto, more a documentary style, without script, real life.)

There are many ideas you can take just from the threads on PBH:

Gringo Losers in Medellin (Greg can star in this one)
A Boy and his Burro (Do you need to ask who would star in this one?)
Mallrat Girlfriends (Plenty of candidates here too)
The Inflatable Paisa (I'll take a turn in this one - this'll make Greg celoso)
Pablo, the Taxi Driver (Starring a slightly used photo of Monica Belluci)
Waterworld (Starring Boricuapr. Oh wait, that's been done!)

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.

I have several ideas but I'm keeping them to myself, I don't want anyone to use my ideas. I will tell you I hope that in the future there will be movies made about Colombia that have nothing to do with drug trafficking, guerrillas, violence, etc. It's about time someone showed Colombia's best face to the world on the big screen.

don negro, your idea/thoughts on a short or documentary film sounds interesting.

unfortunately, i'm too old to be considered good 'food for thought' on such subjects.

however, one of my sons, immanuel martin, is a young film maker, has made two shorts, and would probably love the idea of colaborating on a new project.

he's currently in japan--for about another week--visiting with his daughter and exwife. i will relay the info to him.

then again, should you choose to take it up, straight away, you may feel free to e him at: ijm at best.com. he will pick it up on his lap top, where ever he is and get back with you. just tell him, 'your dad said to call' and he'll know.

good luck with the project and keep us all posted as she goes.

hope all's well in other departments of your life. gotta admit it, been there, done that, too many times.

peace,

douglas

I’m willing to share my life on film, but man, you‘re gonna need a lotta film with many different chapters, my life has been anything, but boring.
Born coming down La Sierra Nevada, on my way from "La Ciudad Perdida" to Juskare, just north of Riohacha. Soon after birth my mom got sick, so I had survived on goat and burro milk.
As a little horny Indian boy, the only sex action I got was by forcing myself on burros and sometimes I pleasure myself by sneaking behind bushes to watch this Indian girl from my village, (identical de Lauthra/Nato) bathe in the river.
At age 4, we moved to Barranquilla where I saw my first out house and then a real flushing toilet. Drank water from toilet. I continued to rape burros barranquilleros.
At ages 4 to 8 sold butifarras in Barranquilla to help support my mom and siblings
At age 9, because my father ripped off other guajiros we (brothers and father) were marked to have our neck slit open like pigs, so we had to escape to NYC and now is when it gets really exciting. Lots of sex, drugs, violence, prison, kids, trips back to colombia etc. I think we need to sit in private for further discussion

any colombianita willing to date me, IS UP TO NO GOOD

This Swiss chap called Nomad Max climbs up Nevado El Ruiz and yodels so much that the FARC throw down their weapons and beg him to stop.

After doing this he yodels to the god of the volcano and it erupts spewing Swiss chocolate all over the country thus feeding the poor.

Our hero has saved Colombia. And assumes a new identity in the UK, as mild mannered accountant Donald Black.

The end.

don negro thanks for your comments.

don't for a minute be 'shy' to e immanuel (ijm at best.com) i've e'd him and he will be expecting it.

his second short was excepted at the LA film festival, the title DIEZ.

he keeps his life alive by working in the dot com industry in silicon valley. sure makes no money making film. he shoots in 35mm and transfers to whatever format is necessary. but count on it, he doesn't have deep pockets. he does it cause he loves it and manages to find a way, each time, to produce his work.

do e him, negro, you'll find him a fine young man and the two of you might have some fantastic ideas, even if you don't work together.

all the best,

douglas martin
