Shipping with Servientrega

Have just started to ship boxes to Cali. Sent 2 boxes, St. Louis to Miami then on to Cali. Everything arrived perfect and very timely. Excellet service, as stated many times by Miquel, and now me. (2-40lb. boxes, with more to follow). Thanks Miquel!!

Servientrega is......... Quite simply the BEST service to send anything to Colombia. Big or small, nobody compares to this service. It is both fast and reliable.

I would use no other.

Also Curious... Are you fluent in Spanish?
Do they have a contact person that speaks English?
Also, what is their contact information?

Thanks in advance for the info!!

Lisa.... I see your point. I do speak Spanish, so it is easy for me to communicate with them. I know that they often do not have people who assist people in English. But I have to believe that someone in your locale can assist you in communicating with them in Spanish. If not, I'm sure that someone here on PBH would be glad to assist you.

Servientrega The Miami office contact I have is Betty (Beatriz) and she can speak basic English; good enough to get your package shipped!

Miguel has posted this info often, but I will post again.
As mentioned Beatriz speaks basic info. I speak fair-poor Spanish.

Cost: 1-7lbs flat rate $15. 7lbs is $1.80 per lb. Insurance is 5% of declared value (not actual unless they are the same). 28% customs on declared value. I did not pay ins. because I felt it is so secure the chances are slim to none anything would not get there.

I put an inventory sheet inside the box with each item listed and the USED value of each item. Total it all and that is the amount you will pay the 28% on. I mail using usps parcel post about 3-4 days from St. Louis, MO

I write the Cali address on the box, then cover that address with a large envelope addressed to Beatrize at Servientrga. In the envelope I include a copy of the inventory and my name, add, phone, & email. She will call and email when it arrives, then you can pay the onward shipping by cc. Since you pay shipping AND customs with her, the person on the receiving end pays nothing (big advantage for me!).

It was sent on Wed. to cali and arrived Fri morning, up the steps and to the door!! My novio said everything was perfect! I want to know what I send actually gets there, therefore, I will pay a little more for the peace of mind and efficiency.

Address:
2234 NW 82nd Ave.
Miami, FL 33122
Tel: 1-786-331-9001

With the above info, you will have no problems shipping. Speak slowly and Beatriz will understand you.

Hope this helps you, it certainly helped me when posted by Miquel.

Servi Update I sent a professional grade hair dryer and retinol cream to B/Quilla last week. Betty got the package too late Tuesday to ship it out; it left Miami Wednesday morning and was in the hands of my girlfriend's family in BAQ Friday morning. For most Bogotá parcels it's a day faster.

Would they ship a heavier item like say a 100lb. wood stove?

2retirensa says on May 29, 2005, 18:07:

Atrevido Sorry, I did leave a few things out. Nothing more than 44lbs, and only 1 package per person per day. That is PER PERSON, not per address. If more than 1 package arrives to Beatriz at the same time, she will ship them on consecutive days, or for me she just changed the name to someone else in the household and sent them together. She even offered to repack a box for me because it weighed more than 44lbs, but I had not sent it yet and did it myself.
Could you break down the stove and ship it in pieces?

Values on Goods Shipped This has all been really helpful and I think I am clear and ready to go except for one thing--when you state values for your goods do you just make them up based on what you think? Obviously things that are brand new are easy, but what about something like my printer that I have had for 8 months or all my clothes that I have worn many times. How do I "value" those? I would like to know so that I don't end up doing something wrong and paying major fees later!

Thanks!!

Lisa All the items I send to Colombia via Servientrega are either used or bought at wholesale price without price tags. ¿Entiendes?

Lisa says on May 30, 2005, 09:51:

Miguel Si, entiendo!
Muchas gracias!
The values just became very small!

Lisa Used merchandise has very little value in Colombia. Think desparate yard sale prices and label everything used on your inventory sheet.

Lisa says on May 30, 2005, 13:09:

Maureen Yeah, that is exactly the idea I was getting, so that will help a lot.
If I ship something that actually is used in the original packaging (printer, for example) just to keep it protected, am I still okay to mark it at yard sale prices? I am thinking no one really cares just as long as they get their 28% of something! However, I don't want to mess something up and have my stuff disappear into oblivion somewhere.

Re: Sending Used Clothes to Colombia................. FYI - Importing used clothing (unless it's for your personal use) is a no - no! All new clothing is required to have tags attached.

Import regulations and customs duties

Regulations
All the imported goods have to be registered with the Ministry of Foreign Trade (Mincomex) by a form called " Registro de Importacion ", that can be bought for a 21 500-peso worth (about USD 11 ). Most of the products are automatically authorized to be imported on production of this form (imports under the " Registro " regime). There is nevertheless a certain number " goods (notably farm products) that are subject to license (imports under the " Licencia " regime).
The import authorizations (automatic and licensed) are valid for 6 months, except for the following products: capital equipment : 12 months; perishable foodstuffs: 2 months. The goods have to be cleared from the Customs before the expiry date of the license.
Beside that, some products are subjected to phyto-sanitary measures and the importer should be registered with a certain number of organizations : the Instituto Colombiano Agropecuario for plants and the products of animal origin, the INVIMA for medicines, medical lingerie, cosmetics and the Ministry of Transports for all types of vehicles. Certain farm products can be imported only when they get the visa from the Ministry of Agriculture, and as long as the importer also buys identical local products. According to the local conditions, it is also possible that the Ministry does not permit the import of certain products during a given period.
((The import of vehicles, pneumatics, second hand clothes, violent toys is forbidden.)) The import of weapons is strictly limited to the army.

Victoria

I just had a wonderful experience with Expresito Cargo of Queens, New York-718.205.2222. I would like to recommend them to anyone shipping from NYC to Colombia- they ship door to door and come through on their promise.

Here on Poor But Happy, I inquired as to who I could trust to ship my personal items from NYC and this company was recommended. I received all 7 boxes in 7 days in perfect condition. In addition, my friend in NYC told me they run a very tight ship and he was really impressed with the efficiency and professionalism of the operation.

No used Clothing to Colombia? I've sent several items of used clothing to Col via servientrega never a problem. The only time I ran into any problem was once when I went to send 4 boxes of Chocolates around Valentine's day. At first they were unsure as to whether they should send it as they said Col frowns upon this due to the competition with the domestic chocolate producers. In the End they shipped it and it arrived without any problems. BTW, Servientrega is located right next door to Avianca's Office off the nw 25 st exit(east) off the Palmetto expressway in Hialeah.
