Good Luck On Sept 17, 2008: Senator John McCain said, as he had many times before, that he believed the fundamentals of the economy were "strong."Hours later he backpedaled, explaining that he had meant that American workers were Strong. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

However I offer these suggestions. 1: DO NOT USE AVIATUR in Colombia, ( they literally ripped me off for about $10,000 USD) 2: Get a binding contract for the move, including the container rental, labor to load the container, transportation of the container to the ship, loading it aboard the ship, storage in the port facility before loading on the ship. Receipt of the container in Colombia, unloading and holding the container for customs inspection, Delivery in a timely fashion (delay not to be charged to you) to your storage facility. Your contract should be from door to door with the transportation company liable for additional cost and charges caused by delays. There are shipping companies that will handle the details from many if not most US cities. The one I used was in Miami. The negotiated cost in 1997 was $7000USD then after 6 months od Aviatur screwing around and charging me for warehouseing etc the price exceeded 17000 Mr. Bill Somondoco 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Bill Turley (☼Travelguide writer) says on Jun 3, 2008, 18:20: We shipped a 40 ft container to Cartegena but could not get Aviatur to deliver it to Bogota. If you have any contacts in Barranquilla they could find a place for you. We have a bodega in a u-store in Bogota and it costs nearly 300,000COP. This is in a very nice modern specially built storage bldg. You might even rent a small apartment to store your things. A good local contact will help you or even store the things in the US until you are ready for them. Mr. Bill Somondoco 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

huskie says on Jun 4, 2008, 04:58: I have used a very good company in the past to move all over the world, we always use them, their HQ is in Virginia, but they have contacts and work with different contractors, the State Dept/USAID uses them and they are great! The owner's name is Steve Tattum and his company's name is Relogistix and here is his e-mail "Great spirits have always encountered violent opposition from mediocre minds-" 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

RAAAY says on Jun 4, 2008, 05:34: Find out from any moving company........if they have any connections with Colombia. Maybe an owner is Colombian..........or a manager........or a key employee........then......stay the f...k away from them.........Best advice is what you got above.......binding contract......door to door................unfortunately.........the chances of it being honoured on the Colombian side are slim................ .........Its useless to argue with ignorance 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
