famsearch says on Nov 16, 2007, 20:09: i know, it can be fun and drive you nuts at the same time! but it's the little things. when i get home from work, there's something still warm on the stove for me. before i get ready for work, she asks what i'm planning on wearing, and when i get out of the shower, everything is ironed and ready to go. she thinks it's disgraceful of me to leave with a shirt that's even slightly wrinkled. not that it's all one sided, i do stuff for her too. the latest was to build a writing desk for her, so she can work on improving her handwriting, and practice writing in english. dan 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

john_stark says on Nov 17, 2007, 05:30: Wow! She must not be a real Colombian if she wants to learn English.

She is in English classes, listens to the English CDs, etc. I guess neither of our better halves are "real Colombians" (according to JS). jajaja BEWARE of gold diggers. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

famsearch says on Nov 19, 2007, 18:10: i've seen it going for around $200. we lucked out in that we can access it online through the local library while at home. all that's needed is a county library card. dan 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
|
lgpaa says on Nov 19, 2007, 20:49: Our "anniversary" date is 11/19! You have my sincerest condolences...............The Rosetta Stone can be purchased on line cheap......we pay $39. /- for 3 months? I think the program is great. She hates it. I have descended into an abyss of irreversible lunacy. 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
|
famsearch says on Nov 19, 2007, 21:06: well, that's the date she arrived. our real anniversary is in december, and that will be our third. we don't pay anything for rosetta stone. it was set up by someone with a lot of $$ and probably a guilty conscience. it was both english and spanish packages, the only catch he had, was to make it available for free online with a library card. it's the full package. at first it was hard, but now she looks at those first lessons and is amazed at how easy they really were. pretty soon i'll have no peace in 2 languages... lol dan 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

|
john_stark says on Nov 20, 2007, 20:58: I'm impressed that you've managed to do it. I've never been able to switch from Spanish to English with my wife so we'll go on in Spanish forever I guess.

john_stark says on Nov 23, 2007, 08:19: Three months of blank stares? It would be impossible to quit cold turkey - there are situations when you just have to communicate. She is making progress - it will just take 20 or 30 years.
