Shakira in Choco

Story on the BBC about Shakira and her educational foundation.

http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/world/americas/7928271.stm

Isn't it great she is in Choco, a place more forgotten than most.

"And it's an area devastated by the civil conflict that has ravaged the country for nearly half a century, forcing three million Colombians to flee their homes.

We were heading to a school Shakira has funded.

She told me: "One-hundred per cent of our kids that we have in our school here have been displaced or have families that have fled their home towns." "

I saw that earlier in the week-an odd sort of article-the Briddish are so clueless.

Shakira's roots aren't in rural Choco but in middle class Barranquila.

IT DOES NOT SAY SHE IS FROM CHOCO

IT DOES NOT SAY HER ROOTS ARE FROM CHOCO

IT DOES SAY...

"Hundreds of miles away in Barranquilla, the singer's hometown, a ceremony is taking place to inaugurate another school she has built (she used $4m of her own money and coaxed £2m more from Howard Buffett, son of America's billionaire investor Warren). "

I LOVE YOU!

Tropicalshirt, thank you for sharing this important post.
Some Colombians do care for the rest of the forgotten ones.
