I just read a pretty shocking storey in the BBC about sex offenders being let off under a bridge in Miami when they complete their sentences to live in tents. It´s the only place the correcional officers can find that´s not within 750 feet of anyplace where children congregate, the law in that city. One Latino, an ex U. S. Marine served time for having sex with a sixteen year old girl. My God! The other day I was talking with a sventeen year old in an outlying pueblo of Cali. She said she had started living with a man there when she was fifteen...and he was forty-seven! And that it happens all the time. I´d guess more than half the male population of any given pueblo would be livnig under a bridge if Colombia had such laws.

Atrevido (☼Travelguide writer) says on Jun 29, 2009, 04:49: Why do they have to be "sent" anywhere? Have they not paid their debt to society. Maybe those who´ve done time for manslaughter should be placed on a deserted island after they´re released so they won´t be within 750 feet of people. https://sites.google.com/site/colombianaturesite/nature-images 0 funny, 1 helpful. |

Rocco81 says on Jun 29, 2009, 10:03: Yeah younger women always look up to, admire and desire older men but I think that is normal for humans in general. The younger woman notices the maturity, masculinity, stability of the older man. I am talking a woman in her 20's finding a man, 30's or 40's attractive. I am sure teenagers are the same, but we as responsible and normal adults need to know better. Once a young girl opens her mouth to speak you can clearly see why the law protects them. I am 31 now and I don't go younger than about 25 with my dates. The level of immaturity would drive me nuts if I were dumb enough to try and date an 21 y/o even. Rocco81 says on Jun 29, 2009, 10:08: Child molesters/rapists fall within a completely different category - if only because of the premeditated aspect. Not to mention their utterly twisted minds preying on innocent children. These guys are sick and they probably deserve some kind of effective and efficient treatments. But, BESIDE any treatment you can give them, most of them unfortunately remain an active menace to children. Sic semper tyrannis 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

lpdiver says on Jun 29, 2009, 15:03: Bottom line is that some of the people that are convicted as sex offenders should not be. Of course the true pedophiles fall into their own catagory and that is the catagory that the law was originally intended for. However, it has become a catch all for a lot of thing that it should not.
