Yes Darloup, they are mentally ill, and you are correct most of the molesters who pray on children are never cured. Many of them never lose the urge to prey. In some cases they may abstain (through castration or estrogen injections which kill the sex drive) but even then they sometimes still touch and harm children by other means.Its almost never that molesters lose thier urge for children.

Bottom line is that some of the people that are convicted as sex offenders should not be. Of course the true pedophiles fall into their own catagory and that is the catagory that the law was originally intended for. However, it has become a catch all for a lot of thing that it should not.

For example...if I go the Mardi Gras in New Orleans and have a full bladder and step down a side ally to take a whiz, I could be convicted as a sex offender and have to register as such for the rest of my life. I don't think that was the original spirit of the law. Personally, I feel that if they have to register then they should never be released.

In my own personal history, I had an ex in a divorce that tried to smear me with this accusation. It cost me tens of thousands of dollars and I had to fight HARD to not have the false accusation made a part of my record. In the end it back fired on the ex and she had to pay all costs involved and lost any custody of her child. She also very nearly went to prison for liable.

I believe in the spirit of the law as originally enacted; however, it has become something that causes more problems than it solves. Let ten prisoners in jail on minor drug charges free and make room for the true sex offenders for life!!

Bam...thanks. All turned out great for me in the end...but the path to there was very stressful. I know of one other case of a person pissing out of a boat that nearly got him labeled as a sex offender. That is a life time label and will prevent a lot of employment posiblilties.

The people that prosecute these cases as sex offenders are doing a great disservice to the memories of the ones for whom these laws were created for in the first place.
