Anybody make any recommendations as to the cheapest way to send money from Uk to Colombia? I am trying to avoid Western Union as the commission is extortionate. I am only looking to send about £100.
thanks in advance.

But they do tend to be concentrated in London, we use Condor in Kennington have so for years. There are also many in Brixton, Elephant and Castle and some in North London.

Mr X says on Oct 24, 2006, 01:05: Moneygram Outside of London I would use Moneygram rather than Western Union. They are a lot cheaper. But bear in mind that sending any small amount tends to be expensive percentage-wise. The more you send the cheaper it gets.

It takes a week or so to set up but once in place you can use it as often as you like. Open a current account with Nationwide building society (it has to be Nationwide as they don't charge for withdrawals abroad). Once you have your bank card send it to the person in Colombia via DHL or UPS (I used a cheaper courier - fast track - which wasn't fast at all and the card got stuck in Bogota and I had to pay more for them to send it to Tumaco so better to use an established dependable firm you can rely on). You're not supposed to send bank cards so I put it inside a DVD. Then when you get your pin number give it to them over the phone, deposit some money and they then draw it out from the cashpoint when they need it. It's working fine.
