Send Used Camera From Miami?

I know this has been asked a million times but despite using the search function I didn´t find a definitive answer that includes mailing/shipping outfit name and address. I need to send a used camera from Miami to Cali. What are the safest but also economical options? I know there are specialized shipping services to Colombia from Miami but there any that PBH´ers have used? Many thanks.

Hey Atrevido, I just sent a digital camera by US mail express from phoenix AZ to cali Colombia. The cost was $16.00 USD and she recived it in about 2 weeks. Everything went fine and she loves the camera.

or even DHL, FEDEX etc. Don't think it would cost that much. Go to their web-sites.

Just type SERVIENTREGA or AVIANCA EXPRESS into the Google box and there will be a lot of hits. I've had success with both, although Servientrega seems to be more popular amongst PBHers.

You'll probably want to insure it and you'll also need to decide on home/business delivery or pick-up at local courier office (home/business delivery was about $5 USD more).

The big differentiator, in my opinion, is declared value and the resulting taxes. If it's a used item you can shave the value quite a bit. Some on this site ship through other companies that apparently don't collect the tax, but then you might wait three weeks for your camera (like the guy with the laptop...the company wouldn't send it out for final delivery until DIAN was no longer likely to look). That's a little fishy and risky...but it works for some people.

I think DHL and FedX are more expensive that us mail. as for avianca it depends what city you are in ab vianca doesnt serve many cities. You said Miami right, i think avainca serves miami/cali.

Seriventrega-guarenteed deivery in 2-3 dats door to door service. Used 'em many times and never had a problem. Avianca Air Express is located next door to Servientrega's Office here in Hialeah off the Palmetto Expwy and is slighty higher then Servi's prices but good service also.

I guess it depends on where you are... here in Miami, I use a trusted courier that delivers door to door to Colombia. I've sent all kinds of stuff, including a used camera, new perfumes, etc. They are cheap, reliable, and deliver fast. I mean cheap. Not like DHL that charges 30 for a letter.....

Oops, I reply before I read all the way through. The courier I use is right down the street from the Colombian Consul in Coral Gables... I think everyone who visits the Consul uses this place for translations, notary, etc. They're very nice people:

Divina22--Servientrega sends Letters pretty reasonable also.Last time I sent documents, it was well below $20, door to door service in 2 days. I agree, DHL Charges are way way out of line.

Not to mention the Parking! If you are local here in Miami and dropping off the Item to be shipped personally, always plenty of parking by Servientrega or Avianca(next door to servientrega). Free parking in Miami , imagine that,,,
