Selling pesos in the United States

I've just returned from Colombia with about 350000 pesos and am looking to get rid of them. Does anyone have any suggestions on how to best exchange pesos for dollars? I've tried two banks (Wachovia and a more local credit union) in my town without success. I live in Asheville, NC. Any help is appreciated.

gringodan,

If you plan on returning to Colombia, I would just keep them for your next trip.

Man, you live in one of God's great locations! Asheville and the Lake Lure area, are destinations of most of those bounce backs or half backs as we call them in our part of the country.

The dollar is falling like a brick... Even the Mexican Peso is kicking the dollar around!

I remember maybe about a year or two ago I was checking currency values for the dollar and Colombian peso and the rate was about 2,500 to 1. Now it's 1,750 to 1 and still in the freefall. Hold on to your Colombian Pesos... I am sure it'll go below 1,500 before the elections. If you have a Washington Mutual bank in your area they'll probably exchange your foreign currency. Same with Wells Fargo (but they take a big bite out of the value).

Lookatmepee,

El Vato Loco is correct:

So it certainly looks like you are "fart smeller" Lookatmepee.
