Bogota Colombia Bed And Breakfast

Located in the quiet neighborhood in the Bogota barrio Modelia for a quiet nights sleep, 3 min. walk to bakeries, beauty salon, local stores, 6 min. walk to a large retailer Carrefour (similar to a Wal Mart) where a new shopping mall is also being built.

second Bogota apartments location is located in Ciudad Salitre, our Bogota apartments are located across from Salitre Plaza, a modern three story shopping mall, across the street from Maloka a world famous science center and 7 min. from the airport and 3 min. from the U.S. Embassy, and a 5 min. walk to the main Bogota bus terminal.

Both locations are located about 10 min. apart and centrally located to most anything a tourist or business person may need.

Any other questions just telephone us at: 1-305-433-2299.

I will appreciate if you pls comment and advise on the the above mentioned.

Hi. Did you give the Search Function here a try first? Lots of good info may be already here on this question.

Do a search on how "easy" it is to rent a flat, especially through agents. You will read about a lot of depressing surprises. And the posher you want it-the more difficult it becomes. Even if you are willing to pay one full year´s rent up front it ain´t easy. Good luck.

For your first few weeks:
Simply for location, I'd choose the Salitre location over Modelia, especially if you will be going into more central parts of the city more frequently. Salitre is closer to the central parts of town and considered very nice in Colombia. Personally I find it a bit sterile and bland compared to more established parts of the city. The mall is nice enough, but it's a mall with all limitations that malls have (vs lively shopping streets & store fronts). The only other shops are mostly along 22B. Also you'll be cabbing it or taking the busetas to get around from there.. They haven't installed TransMilenio in the area yet.

For your main location, I'd actually suggest not going too far North. I would;t go any further than Calle 90 or so.. actually I like Chapinero and would probably land closer to Calle 63. There are locations around central Cra 7, especially just east up the slope, that are very nice and far more convenient for living everyday life.

Once you arrive I'd hire a Taxi to take you on drive weaving up and down between just shy of the Circunvalar and Avenida Caracas from about Calle 50 to Calle 90.

very well said! Try looking for a different place than Salitre. I suggest you look for a place between La Candelaria or as suggested Chapinero and maybe up to la calle 125 which is still close to la zona rosa and there are lots and good restaurants in the area.

You may want to try out something different than a bed and breakfast. The place I recommend is also in the Salitre Area. The people who rent this apartment are familiar with all of the real estate agents in the area and would be more than happy to help you out. You will pay less here than any of the place mentioned above and you will full access to the kitchen and you can come an go anytime you like with 24/7 security. You make all local phone calls free and if available they will let use a cell phone for free.

But I am curious about your post as you say you will be staying in two locations at once. How is this done? If I did not know better I would say this is a shamefull way to advertise. But that's not the case is it?

From what I read in the OP this person is planning to stay in Colombia for a year or so, and needs a decent hotel/apartment/location to crash for the first few weeks while they familiarise themselves with the city and manage to rent or lease an apartment.

The question was to vet a couple of locations (probably from the same website) for the first few weeks...

and if their intention was to advertise, well, a couple of us agree that even the better of the two is in bland & sterile area.

adrimm agreed if that was the intention. Staying close to the airport seems a little out of the way though. IMHO?
