Seeking information on uri/url specifically for Colomiba

We are developing a website and would like like to also have our domain name something like www.domainname.xx.com. where xx. would be the Colombian country code...We would really like to have our site in all appearances dedicated to Colombia.

I have lots of have experience typing in .com and I've noticed similar sites like ours in Spain and Brazil use .com without any country specification. Be that as it may our love for Colombia put this task on my list.

any Colombian business registered at the camara de comercio can get oen of these

The Colombian domain (.com.co) is a much higher cost and the usual Colombian bureaucracy to get it done.

Needs to be opened with paper forms via Uni de los Andes in Bogota. Costs about 160k per year, I think.

Plenty of Colombian business use .com.co, but plenty don't (eltiempo.com, for example).

Depends as well what your web site is for. Search engines index country domains much quicker within the local search engine (google.com.co), and give local sites a higher priority in search results.

So if your primary users will be in Colombia, and it's not a unique name (such as El Tiempo), you may still choose to go with com.co... if your users will come from all over the world, .com should be fine.
