Fincas There are many different towns around Medellin with all different categories of fincas. Guarne is on the Autopista Medellín-Bogotá, and has a temperate climate, although it can get quite chilly at night, and if it's a rainy day, you will definitely want to have a sweater with you. Guarne is 40 minutes from Medellín, an easy drive, very accessible, and the highway is good. Copacabana is actually considered part of the Metropolitan area of Medellín, and is north of the city. It too has a temperate climate, and on a personal note, is my favorite place on Earth...lots of great fincas, nice veredas, and is a stone's throw from the city. You can take a bus, a colectivo, even the Metro to get there. If you want to start research on the different towns, and what they have to offer, I would suggest you start with lopaisa.com. For fincas in specific towns, you can take a look at the classifieds on elcolombiano.com, or there is a good page called: espacios-ltda.com.

I had already a spot which was for sale but someone elso put more $ on the table and he got the deal.
I'm checking almost ever days El Colobiano and El Tiempo,
I was woundering if someone here in there forum may have a friend who is doing to sell a Finca or even only a nice Lot.

IDEA how about starting a thread entitled "Finca of the Month". i am starting to visit some fincas here around Medellin and have been to El Penol (my personal favorite) as well as San Geronimo. maybe some of the group here could start reporting back on some of these properties and areas of interest.

Sidenote:

I would like to buy a finca here in the next year or so, but I have a bit of a cultural dilemma. Any feedback would be appreciated. My "Americano" version of a "FINCA" is a "Lake House". Hence, I am looking for a lake first. Well, I found one, El Penol. I think it is an absolutely stunning area and buy there without hesitation. However, me novia and here family are against it because they think it is "too cold" in El Penol. I think they are crazy, but then again they get cold here in Medellin too. I NEVER do. Therefore, they keep pitching "Santa Fe". The only problem is that there is no lake to go boating in. Once you get past the pool and horse rides, what else is there to do? I can't fish, ski, wakeboard, go on scenic boatrides..... so you see my dilemma. Am I the "crazy one" here?
