Search: apt in bogota

I looking for a 1-2BR apartment in bogota to rent for 6 month. When I arrive in June I will stay in the Palermo area. Is it a good place? How much do I need to expect to pay for the apt? I read it is complicated to rent apts in Colombia (lot of paper work and only with 12 month min.). Is that true?

Apartment Rental What you have been told is true. I have a friend who wanted to rent an apartment in our building and pay 6 months in "advance!" They would not take it. Seems crazy to me, but that is how most of them operate. And, don't expect to get high speed internet that easy either because you have to subscribe for a year. And, if you are a foreigner you may as well forget it, along with cable tv etc. Colombia is not set up to help foreigners. Colombia is not "user friendly" with us. Also, you can expect to pay alot for a good apartment in Bogota that is furnished (if you can find one). Sure there is the exception to this rule, but few and far between.

I am not familiar with the area you want to rent in. However, wherever you are in Bogota, transportation is available. Taxies are really cheap and I used to take them all over Bogota.

Franko_44 Speaking of taxis.... how are you doing on the "close the taxi door slowly and gently meditation"? Remember, the taxi drivers are only protecting their means to earn a living. You can improve relations by saying something like this before getting out of the taxi: "Muchas gracias, señor, Ud. es muy amable. Tranquilo, que voy a cerrar la puerta suavemente. Que le vaya bien, señor."

Plantano and taxis I actually learned to go easy on the taxi doors before I left Bogota. I sure did not make a good impression when I first started taking them lol.

I also want to point out that ColombianServices have rooms etc for rent. They are great people to deal with.
Thanks
Frank
