Scooter import into Colombia from Europe

I'm sure you've already investigated this, but are you aware the vehicle has to be brand new, and the cost of shipping and import taxes could perhaps be more expensive than simply buying a new scooter in Colombia?...

Not Hijacking the Thread, interesting fact on Good Morning America just now, Vespa Scooter sales up 146% over last year due to high Gas Prices. I own a Honda Helix 250(Kenwood stereo system and all) Thruway legal and a 50cc Yamaha Scooter. Nothing beats my Yamaha 50cc for scooting in and out of city traffic but you really need to pay attention and wear good protective gear. The story on GMA this morning included Riders(NYC area) who sold off their cars and now use their scooters/cycles as their primary source of Transportation. And they are saving Megabucks in the process. I'm thinking of doing the same as here in Florida with its warm year around weather, I really don't need a car. Society here in the USA has residents conned into thinking they NEED that car but many owners really don't. Colombia has great weather for year around use, but their Road Conditions and lack of overall respect for Pedestrians, Bicyclists and other auto drivers leave a lot to be desired. Hopefully this will change as Colombia moves forward.
