As far as schengen is concerned, I never found out 100 percent how it works, but it seems that if you are a citizen of the European Union, then since you can travel to any other EU country you have what is called a schengen visa. It is not for an outsider looking to go to the EU. Again, this is what I believe. When we asked for the schengen in various consulates, they acted like they had no idea what we were talking about. Once in the Union, you can freely travel to any other country in the Union. If you have a US residency you can apply. The problem might be with your DAS record. We had to go back to colombia just for an update because hers was more than six months old, and since I resided in Colombia, Ineeded one as well. They told us that after getting the apostile, we needed to go to the Spaninsh embassy and have them stamp it. THIS IS COMPLETE BULLSHIT. The spanish consulate in bogota said to us, and I agree, the DAS document in a colombian document, they have no authority to....authorise it. When back in NY the consulate said it wasn´t all that important anyway (nexst time tell us that first dipshit we wasted a whole day fighting at the embassy). We got our visas within 2 days mailed to our address. "If you don't like it - lump it, take it down the road and dump it." - Archie Bunker played by Carroll O'Connor 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
