SCAM on PBH: why RAAAY's post about the barrio on the hill is a scam

RAAAY wrote a nice report about his trip to the bad barrio up the hill.

I didn't notice it at first, but there was a little voice telling me "what an OLD Irish guy, extremely RICH, went doing up there in the barrio at night?"
RAAAY, even if he does not show his best part on PBH, is not a stupid. So, why he was there?
Would one go just to show that M_T is gullible? Naaa... I don't think so.

So, I read it better and noticed that he wrote:
"Four beers later, not a Aguila Negro to be seen. It's now 11.20pm and there is still activity. Stores are open.........the kids are a bit older. My man talks to the store owner for a bit. What's going on ? how are things ? general stuff. Now there are a few of them talking. My man asks about the rumours of unsavoury activity. The locals laugh in a manner that was obviously genuine. If they were bullshitting, look out Oscar nomination season."

Now, can he explain us how could he be there at 11:20 PM when at 10:54 PM (Colombian hour) he was posting from home in the "no more war" post? Did he get home before the curfew? Or he was not there at all?

Note that post timing is always 3 hours before the true Colombian time. So 19:54 is 22:54 (10:54 pm) in Colombia.

hmmmm. you might be on to something, robi. go back and take a look at the photos ray posted. they look like they were taken right around the time that the sun was setting. you know, dusk or twighlight as some call it. here in my neighborhood, that occurs right around 7 p.m.

i think ray might have just dipped his toe into the water vs. jumping full in like he describes. he gets to the barrio, waits until the sun sets, snaps a few photos, then comes back home and writes a hyped up report while pretending to have experienced the true contraband late night activity prohibited by the black aguilas.

robi - maybe he had good intentions and got spooked? maybe he was marked by a black eagle and hightailed it? maybe he went with body guards that were not in the photos? police escort, perhaps?

This time a commission of three PBH members will stay down the hill, in Avenida La Playa con La Oriental for example, and write down the time he goes up and come down.

But… I would like to say, great detective work by Robbi666.

I checked out RAAAY’s thread before leaving the house this morning, but I left for work with three obvious comments that were suspect….

1. The story and photo regarding the children playing in the street. If it were a Friday or Saturday night, it could have been true. But, it’s a school night and the kids are home in bed. They would not have been on the streets that late.

2. The store where RAAAY is having his fourth beer. Well, that store is one of the first stores in the barrio that closes early every night, seven days of the week.

3. AND... as I have mentioned in the past. I enjoy hanging out on the streets, drinking and shooting-the-shit with everyone. BUT, on many weekdays, I have often found myself “the last man standing‿ because many people in the barrio have to get up early for work The barrio is usually completely shut down for the night, with the exception of a few stores, at about 10:00 pm, when there is no curfew in affect. The streets are not crowded with people as RAAAY described. If Nacional is playing, then you will have people hanging out watching the game during the week.

Yes, it’s true. I do not live in Medellin and have only spent about 28 days there, that’s 28 days in that particular barrio, I know what time the kids go home during the week. I know who comes home late from work. I know who stays out the latest because they are usually keeping me company. I would happen to think that I know more about the barrio than RAAAY, even though I do not live in Medellin.

More after I get home….

I had to sneak-a-peak at PBH at work, ‘cause I’m not supposed to be checking out forums. I hope my boss understand, if they have questions I will explain the whole story to them.

Only the trained eye can spot a member of this street gang.

One common misconception is that they're black looking. They are actually closer to moreno in appearance.
