SAP

I am hoping that my wonderful YAYITA will be here next month and have trying to fix up things in my house for her. Does anyone know how to get your TV to work with Spanish subtitles. Is it the TV that controls this or the cable company or both? Does it work with all channels or just a few? I would like to have gotten a dish but I have too many trees around.

There is a control on the TV with the various languages and designations such as T1, T2, T3, T4, C1, C2, C3, C4. But I cant make it work. Is there an expert out there that can help? Do I need to get a newer TV?

combo of both The function is controlled on your TV, probably during "setup" and labelled either "language" or "captioning" something like that.

Of course, for the TV to take advantage of the service, the content has to be subtitled and the signal must already be there from the cable.

The spanish CC has to be encoded in the programme its not something your telly can pick up, in countries where they speak English the CC would be in English (this if for deaf people) and here some shows have it, in Spanish of course, there's nothing you can do to change that.

Stick a dish up on one of the trees. You will then be able to overdose on Spanish language programming if you are in the US. My wife actually preferred to have English subtitles on to help her learn the language. It is better in my opinion to let her natural language learning skills get a jump start by limiting the access to Spanish tv. There are many who will never learn more than a few words of English if they do not need to, if there is Spanish tv and lots of Spanish speakers in the area, who needs English. If I was in Colombia I would prefer to be forced to learn Spanish or not watch tv.
