Santa Marta Travel Tip

Liked Santa Marta.

Stayed at a couple of places, best was Hotel Sol something, precise directions: next to Park hotel on sea front (next door to it on the right looking from the sea front)
and its the last hotel before the museo on the corner. Only 20,000 a night with sea view and hammock at he front of the room.

On advice from this forum (guacharacas) went to La Puerta bar, "If you are an extravert and your spanish vocabulary is greater than 100 words, you will not leave alone. ".............

So, enter me! One second later there is a high pitched scream!

Que Rico me thinks! I go to the bar and some 22 year old or so is following me! Que pais?

My heart sinks! It is some Spanish looking women, kind of too trendy kooky looking, and the bar is full of them. Also, lots of English people. Its like some Hoxton/trendy east end bar and I never go to them. Pleasant all the same. Far less !!!!! than said areas.

Que quero no tengo!

Thanks for the tip all the same.

If you want to go to Minca you keep going up Calle 11 to where it meets Carrera 11. You go through most of the market to get there.

Exactly on the right corner going up shared taxis leave for Minca at 5,000 pesos.

Beautiful butterflies in Minca.

Que Rico!

Oh, by the way, I guess I should have also mentioned...20 percent of the girls there are hookers. You just have to know how to tell the difference. If they come to you quickly, that is a good warning sign. There are others that just want to meet foreigners.

La Puerta is a pretty cool place. Clubs are not my thing but I hungout with the owner quite a bit. Did you go down the street a few doors and check out the bar Baru? Good people in there. It draws a tad bit of an older crowd then La Puerta.
