San Pedro cactus

Has anyone here tried taking this cactus?

To prepare it, you need to de-spine the cactus. Then you cut out the centre of it. 1 - 2 feet per person, then boil it up and let it reduce down into a gungy greeny brown slime.

Then bottoms up.....

An account of the cactus by a shaman:
the drug first ... produces ... drowsiness or a dreamy state and a feeling of lethargy ... a slight dizziness ... then a great 'vision', a clearing of all the faculties ... it produces a light numbness in the body and afterward a tranquillity. And then comes detachment, a type of visual force ... inclusive of all the senses ... including the sixth sense, the telepathic sense of transmitting oneself across time and matter ... like a kind of removal of one's thought to a distant dimension.

brings back memories... I lived in Ecuador for 7 years and used to go to a lovely valley called Vilcabamba for cactus weekends! We never prepared it ourselves, just bought it ready in plastic bags. It is the most foul tasting thing you can put in your mouth I'm telling you. The most difficult thing is keeping it down. We did this by cramming a whole chocolate bar in our mouths immediately afterwards. We usually went to the shallow river to do this then sat in the river to wait. It only takes a short time but by then you have forgotten what time is anyway. I remember one time coming out of the river and walking along a track and bumping into some locals dripping wet, fully clothed and (afterwards) realising that the dress I had on the dye had run out and I was bright blue (at the time I thought I was a brilliant morphus blue butterfly).I wrote some really good poems too!(ha ha)and saw a few tigers. Extremely strong hallucinogen and highly recommended in the right hands. Happy days. Now I am all grown up and sensible....

I was thinking by the accounting, that.... the shaman had forgotten to 'de-spine' the cacti!
(kids forever! give me some cacti!)

Where do we go from here?

hahaha cool! Yer Ive heard about Vilcabamba!! Does anyone know if this cactus grows in colombia? I fancy my next career as a shaman! Why bother dealing with problems on the earth when you can disappear to the otherside and sort stuff out from there! :-)
