funny story about the above place.. was the Macondo Guest House run by Shaun and this girl worked with him. He moved out and rented a better place and she rented the building he left and took all his contacts. The address is still in all the guide books. If you want a decent hostel in San Gil go to the real Macondo Guest House run by the Australian Shaun. I´ve stayed there a few times and its a great way to find out all there is to do in San Gil.

And yes, I heard the same story, it's the previous Macondo Guest house. Well, at least they're decent enough to rename it. That's the risk when moving your hostel.

Strange - I thought all the wannabe hostel owners - those who haven´t done the hard work like building a backpacker business over the past few years - stuck to the big cities like Medellin and Bogota....

Another copycat hostel trying to get cash in on the "tourist boom".

My advice is stick to Macondo - Shaun deserves a lot better from his (ex) employees.

It´s better to be silent and thought a fool than open your mouth and prove the fact....

this story is curious. a week ago came to San Gil, and looking hostel Macondo, but I found the old address, I opened a girl, very friendly and nice smile, said that is not the place you're looking for a role I ecribio the new leadership of Macondo. I told him I can see your hostel?, I said what I am here not speaking English in Macondo if they speak English, I do not mind I told him that I decided to follow, although it did not feel comfortable receive! not wise because ?!... , A welcoming place, very clean and also give the tourist information this woman knows a lot of tourism not only in San Gil, but in colombia! his son nine years is very intelligent and fun! I recommend the place, and I do not mind their problems with men from Australia, I do not know him, not to judge this girl I'm not anyone.

I imagine that your experience with the hostel is not indebted to anyone, just follow it! did a good job and there is no problem you independence, I think that many backpackers like me you saw working in Macondo we knew that your eras the spark of that place and everything good and the changes that had been there for your good taste .. . Shaun is a man who is resentful with himself and has neither the east. it shows that do not want to stay in San Gil, and it does what it does for its economic well-being. pretty good luck with this project and foolish words fall on deaf ears! jejeje and that man peter seems to be in love with Shaun, that it defends without much know! that will be shared more than one year with Shaun or have the same experience of all the backpackers only 3 or 4 days!..

señores ! ustedes digan lo que quieran y entre mucho mas me desprestigien mejor para mi! ojala llenen esta pagina de mil comentarios malos de mi y el hostal! digan lo que digan, yo no voy a cerrar! tengo muy claro todo esto y mi consiencia esta muy muy muy tranquila!
