San Diego is both a mall and a barrio. Not sure how "happening" it is, but I haven't been in Medellin for a year so maybe it is now.

San Diego Mall San Diego is located at the base of Las Palmas. Las Palmas is a neghborhood that stretches up a winding hill covered with night-clibs and restaurants. There's lots of entertainment near San Diego.

La Isla Also, at the top of Las Palmas is a walled compound called La Isla. It contains night-clubs, a casino, strip bar. The area has nice views of Medellin.

Full of Hookers!.... San Diego is an industrial/commercial area with residencial parts on the higher parts; the lower part (by the shopping centre) has two some casinos and the industrial side is just one big brothel at night with some strip clubs. From the texaco station/presto on Las palmas onwards it isn't really considered as San Diego any more (don't know if it really is or isn't, but they just refer to it as Las Palmas.

San Diego is the oldest Mall in Medellin and one of the best. There are many small restaurants and bars in the blocks to the south from the Mall. Apart from that not really much, perhaps people mean Las Palmas, which start right at San Diego, along Las Palmas there are many discos, bars and restaurants.
