How does one get to San Andres from Cartagena and how much does it cost? I read that there is no ferry and the only way is by air. Is it worth seeing and if so need hotel recommendations. Gracias!

If you want something more laid back than San Andres to the puddle jumper from there twenty minutes to Isla Providencia. Highly reccomend Cabanas El Recreo.

Try them all and see. www.avianca.com www.aerorepublica.com.co www.wca.com.co

Atrevido (☼Travelguide writer) says on Jul 25, 2004, 17:32: I suggest you add to your sugestion the word "instead" since the post almost implies Providencia is like a simple day trip from San Andres and it's not. Reservations "con anticipacion" are absolutely required because of the very limited flight schedules. Islanders are often clamoring to leave but can't because the tourist round trip tickes take precidence.

Mr. Hollywood says on Jul 25, 2004, 19:09: No ferry Heat, the reason there's no ferry from Cartagena is because San Andres sits way up off the coast of Nicaragua. It would take DAYS to get there by boat from Cartagena. Flights there are easy and frequent. San Andres town is itself a bit tawdry but the island is nice and the water is some of the most beautiful in the world.

kikolina0920 says on Jul 26, 2004, 14:10: San Andres Try Avianca, and ask for Plan Deskubra, it's all-inclusive, and for 5 nights, I just bought a package to stay at el Decameron San Luis from September 23-28 for $364.00, EVERYTHING included - airfare, hotel accomodations, all taxes, tips, transfers from the airport to your hotel and back again, and everything you can eat and drink. If you fly out of Cartagena with Avianca, they fly you first to Bogotá, and then out to San Andres....check it out!!!
