San Andres y Providencia

San Adres y Providencia..

Can anyone send me name of travel agencies in Bogota, and package deals/info to purchase trip to San Adres y Providencia.

Neonove just wrote a post and mentions a great package-dea to these Islands.
I haven't been there since I was a little girl this is way, way, way back in late 1960's when our papito (father) used to take the family on vacation for Easter week, I still remember the beautiful beach full of shells, all types and shapes, millions, the beaches were covered with them, us kids used to spend the entire day picking shells in plastic bags to bring back to Bogota.

One shell I didn't like to bring was the big "concha" because everytime you went to pick up one this ugly snail would be inside it, and if you took it to your hotel room the darn thing would crawl out of it, Que feo!!

The other thing I remember about my trips to San Andres was that when I came back to school (used to go to "El Colegio Americano", and we had art class I always had to draw the beautiful sceneries of "La playa" and would color the ocean water with my "aquamarine" crayon that would wear out fast! I mean fast! so that I would cover the ocean water to look like San Andres' and also I would draw tons of palm trees, not like the ones here in California, but those tropical ones that you see crossing each other.

Anyways the story is that my "papito" father is now 89 years old with Alzheimers, (a horrible desease) and I am going back to visit him and want to take him somewhere's warm and a place he may remember. With this desease they remember more of the past then present.

thank you

Aviatur is a big chain with many offices in Bogota. I've only dealt with them once but they were good and cheap and were recommended by someone on this site. When I was in San Andres recently it ws hard to book a flight to Providencia so you've got the right idea in booking ahead. Buen viaje

I was just there.. a couple of weeks ago and walked past that hotel several times (they are on the main road that goes along the beach). I didn't go in to see the inside, but from the outside, they looked clean and decent by San Andrés standards.

I enjoyed my visit to San Andrés tremendously, however, I thought the hotel conditions, on average, were a bit on the "rustic side." If you are American or Canadian, knock off a star or two and you'll be able to compare. My only problem, and a minor one on the balance, was that our hotel didn't have any hot water. I, personally, like to shower in something other than ice-water so this was a bit of a nuisance for me. Something you can't take for granted, anyway.

Enjoy your visit!

I agree, I stayed at Hotel Arena Blanca, quite nice and modern, as well as clean, but no hot water. This is a pain in a room with a jacuzi.
