Hi everybody, after reading many of your comments and advice, i talked with my girlfreind, and she loves the idea of getting married on San Andres. The only question is, having a catholic church wedding is still very important to her, does anybody know if San Andres has a church that would do this? And if so, do we still need to do the civil part afterwards?

The other thing im not so sure about, i am English and live in the u.k., and my wife to be is colombian, from cali. She is a catholic, but i am not, does anybody know is it possible for a non catholic to marry in a catholic church?

Lovelysanandres says on Aug 3, 2006, 11:57: Well in that case... It is kind of complicate, becouse if you want to married in a catolic church you need to have starting from a baptism, first comunion, confirmation, etc...in order to get married, you can do it obviusly but then you have to do all this ceremonys first.

machin2007 says on Aug 18, 2006, 06:47: distance from Cali Plaza to Chipichape How far is it from Cali Plaza Hotel to Chipichape? Is Chipichape still the epicenter to find dates? I am a relatively good looking 39 year old divorced guy, looking to squeeze as much fun as possible into a 10 day stay at Cali. If I find a nice, sweet girl to begin a long-term relationship with, even better. Any suggestions?

machin2007 says on Aug 18, 2006, 06:51: Best Clubs/Bars in Cali What would be the best clubs/bars to find available, "non-professional" girls in Cali? I don't want to embarass myself with my lack of Salsa expertise, so maybe the Salsa clubs would be out. Is there a particular place where there are an availability of slightly upscale, women with careers? It seems many of the women I have met through the internet are listing "in college" as their careers even though they are 25 years old.

Gator says on Aug 18, 2006, 08:27: Guess What? All clubs in Cali/Juanchito are basically salsa clubs. These girls salsa before they learn to walk. In fact there ate at least a dozen medical cases a years in which girls are born dancing salsa. "Credidi pretio parvo emere et magno vendere tibi in animo fuisse!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

David in Idaho says on Aug 20, 2006, 19:11: Another BIG unanswered question: Why does a question like this get posted in a thread about San Andrés????

ACBlessing says on Aug 22, 2006, 23:21: Agreed I agree...this thread took a half-assed route. I also want to know if it is true about getting married in San Andres with only my passport and her with only her ID and a birth certificate. It just doesn't make sense when Colombian law dictates strict procedures for civil marriage. Just plain poor 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

David in Idaho says on Aug 22, 2006, 23:45: I'm no expert ACBlessing, but ... ... what I hear (and other posters with more detailed info, please verify) is that the Colombian government, in an effort to promote matrimonial tourism, declared San Andrés a special "marriage express zone." OK, that's my term. But basically, the deal is, they make it super easy to get married there - yes, only a passport - so that folks from all over the world will spend their money there gettin' hitched.

Bluesdude says on Sep 27, 2006, 16:10: Yes, It's true! Yes, it's true. We did it with only my passport, her cedula and birth certificate. About 3 weeks later, we had a spiritual ceremony for 50 or so family and friends at the hotel Caribe, with a sit down filet mignon dinner for 28000 (about $11 US) per person. I bought all the booze, wine and champagne and programmed music for the whole evening - pre ceremony, ceremony, post ceremony, first dance, dancing, etc on my iPod. The whole tab was about 3 million pesos. About a week after that we went to Bogota to get my visa and cedula. Took about two days - mostly just waiting. Got her tourist visa to the US on the same trip. Anyway, the best of luck to you and your bride! Bluesdude No Mas Gringas Por La Vida 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

vladimiro says on Sep 28, 2006, 22:31: san andres Maybe that passport only marriage process is catching on. Foriegn turism to San Andres is up 20% this year. I don't believe any countries in the region offer such hassle free marriage as San Andres.

davidfmbca says on Oct 7, 2006, 16:37: NO doubt about it We're definately going to tie the knot in San Andreas next spring. But for now,we're planning to visit for Christmas to get information and locate the Notary for the island that looks after things, etc. I sent an email to lovelysanandreas to find out more info about all that, but the question I have today for all the rest of you posting here, is what hotel do you recommend for the one's available for us Canadian touristas because we only have a choice of the 5 Decameron ones disponible.

Estebandido says on Oct 18, 2006, 16:04: I married in san Andres I just got married in October 7th in San Andres, in the Cristo Salvador Catholic Church. We were a group of 17 people, and stayed in a hotel called "San Andres Noblehouse". It was a beautiful hotel, a lot cheaper than Decameron, and the owner also organized our wedding and arrange the ticket+hotel packages for all of us. 17 people traveled from Chile (where I'm from), the US, and Colombia for the wedding. I don't see why a canadian would be limited to just Decameron hotels.
