san andreas marriage ideas

it is me again with another question , i going to San Andres before the end of the months to be married, I cheacked Saiwedding website it is ok, but to pricey, 800.00 to a 1000 dollars, i was thinking that i could put together a wedding myself for a lot less money, and being that san andres promotes this type thing, there has got to be others places that i can do this wedding with alot less plata, i want to spend my money on the hotel and honeymoon....... not a 30 minute ceremony my budget is 500< for the marriage any comment s as to where, or if this is possible, will be greatly appreciated thx.........tom

I would get on the Internet and try to find some photographers before hand. As you said before it is only a 30 minute ceremony or less. So you get married on the beach at sunset and have it recorded by cam and camera. Order your flowers and wedding cake...plain just do it yourself.
I am staying at a Hilton again in November on the Big Island of Hawaii with my Colombian fiancee (her first time to Hawaii). I have been there at Hilton 4 times previously and they have a beautiful chapel on the grounds (hotel is a 2500 room megaplex on 66 acres). However the 30 minute marriage would set me back about 3 grand. Just to use the grounds is $1500.
So I located a photographer online that regularly uses a site for the marriage minutes from the Hilton on the beach. Getting a justice of the peace is always the cheapest part of the equation. We will get married at sunset then continue to have the photographer record at the luau which is 5 minutes walk away. I am thinking I will be spending less than $1000 including the luau. I am going to have a suit made of cream colored linen in the traditional Colombian wedding garb which actually is borrowed from Cuba. I will have a small traditional church wedding for the family back in the New England area later. I hope my discussion of my plans gives you some ideas. You certainly are on the right track...do it yourself. Since I have not visited San Andreas I do not know the costs but I can assume it is high compared to usual Colombian because it is a resort island. An educated guess says your budget sounds doable to me

friend....as for marriage, after you have your paperwork taken care of, go to a small parish and speak with the priest. it will cost you what you donate.

as for photos, it don't take rocket science to get someone to do the photos. again, ask the priest if you don't know anyone.

$800 tp $1000 way too much. Cut that by at least 60% and you are closer to a fair Price. That figure you are quoted is a Gringo Price. $150-$400 max.

Jesus!, you know just how much the notary charge for marriage outside the notary...bilieve me is way much than 100 dollars, only just that...the only weddings a law at the beach or other places as restaurant or private places in San Andres are the civil priest does not do it...and always remember everything that is in San Andres is bring form outside..speccialy flowers, sets , etc...a wedding of 800usd or 1000 usd is with Notary rights, notary papers & tramits, pictures, video, transportation, nice beach set with flowers, torchs, vels, champagne, cake ,bride bouquet, groom boutonier, bride's hair flowers, music, even the flower girl, so is not expensive for all these things, the simplest weddings are way cheaper than this and compare with other islands prices are pretty good. and remember this is a job many people live from these jobs .

ColombianoGringo says on May 15, 2008, 21:53:

That is actually a good deal considering all that is included. We went with SaiWeddings for a simple beach wedding so it was less. I assure you that they aren't gouging people. A lot of things are more expensive in SA than on the mainland because everything has to be shipped in.

The wedding planner Jannethe was great. She took care of everything and did so with very short notice. I got the impression that dealing with the notario office in San Andres can be a pain, especially for foreigners. Jannethe dealt with them and even got him to come out on a holiday without us having to deal with them.

Last month, we needed copies of our marriage certificate and she took care of it for us. She got the certified copies from the notario and sent them via DePrisa without charging us a dime for her time. Someday we'd like to go back and renew our vows on San Andres and you can bet we will be using Jannethe.

Does anyone know the phone number for the notary in San Andreas ?

Frank Rizzo says on May 16, 2008, 06:56:

Hi Clinman...also you gotta go to the treehouse on the big island.....a visit you'll never forget....

Lovelysanandres says on May 16, 2008, 07:00:

57-8-5122112 unfurtunally they speaks only spanish, actually if some body wants to married in the island and does not speak spanish, you must hire an official interpretor for the ceremony., if does not matter if your fiancee speaks english , it has to be outside from you two , they can provide some names

Clinman says on May 16, 2008, 07:21:

Thanks Frank for the well wishes. I will e-mail you about the Tree House. I am staying 6 nights at Hilton on Big Island using points. With a two night mininum stay at Tree House, 8 nights is too much on Big Island. Likely this trip will spend a few nights at two other islands...sprinkle some of those Marriott point around. I am headed to Barranquilla next Friday so will discuss with novia online. Of course all she knows is Hawaii 5-0 re-runs so it is a dream for her. However I am well aware the sacrifices a Colombiana makes leaving her country, her job, and her familia for love

Sounds like the price quoted by Saiwedding is reasonable for all thats is included. But I am sure Tom can still do the same for $500 with a little work on his part and some planning. If you are a young guy marrying a Colombian woman with all the travel and expenses can definetly tap the budget when you are just starting out.

I tried to plan a wedding in SA by myself and it was not easy at all. This is before I discovered SAIweddings, way before she had the website up. The problem is not knowing where to go for flowers, cake, decorations, music, photographer, and even the notary. It's a pain having to guess everything and pretty much being at the mercy of people you've never met and who may or may not show up. Also, there is only one notary on the island so whatever he says, pretty much goes.

Good luck!

ummmm depending on the time of year...and what you like...maui and take the ferry to lanai....you may see the whales..!!

If she watches old hawaii 5-0...you can stay on oahu and take her fishing in ala moana harbor in front of the ilikai hotel....(where they supposedly had the 5-0 HQ with danno..)hahaha.....neat little store on the docks and you'll see boats from all over the world..very neat..

We got married very cheaply in San Andres and don't regret it for a sec. I agree the prices were too much for what you get in San Andres. I would much rather pay more someplace else. We basically arranged our own cake the night before at a bakery and paid less than 15,000 for exactly what we wanted to be ready when we wanted it. We found the photographers wanted a lot of money but didn't want to take many pictures so we came up with plan B and just went to a beach and found a guy who worked for Decamerones, asked him to take some pics of us with my camera and gave him a 10,000 tip and ended up with some fantastic pictures (about 40) and everyone was happy. As for the ceremony we went the cheap way and just did it inside the notary, not so exciting but it wasn't horrible either. Now I guess if you are having guest you might want to plan otherwise but if it is just you two, who cares...as for us, everyone sees our pics and thinks we got married on the beach since we do have those pictures. My Spanish was far from fluent at the time and the man never even asked about it but he did ask if I understood some things. Good luck and congrats!

Oh and findig everything on the island is very simple, there is only one notary and the staff at any hotel should be a bit helpful with guiding you to other locations or making recommendations.

Lovelysanandres says on May 17, 2008, 21:34:

Well , just remember you suposse to married just once and is one the most important things in your live...whatever you make or how you make it juts try to have the most memorable moment...and be happy.
