safety standards & poor food hygiene

Many people have said that I should remember I am not living in London I am in Colombia. OF course these are very valid words to say. At the same time It is actually important for people to acknowlede that the things I am talking about are real problems and can actually help the whole of Colombia, if there was more awareness of these matters. If Colombians only knew that leaving food out for hours could give them illness or in extreme cases kill them. Educating A Colombian in this way would be invaluable advice for him and his family. People have also said that the only reason for safety in England and the USA is because everyone sues.
Long before this there was high safety standards. Most safety is common sense and does not cost any thing. Like filling in holes with earth after you have moved some thing in a childrens play ground. Safety is a culture in the west. Lets try to pass on this beautiful aspect of our culture that has saved so many lives in our countries. We have a moral obligation to pass this on to people that do not know about it

Thank you for your concern I thank you for your concern, but one thing is trying to make things better, and another constantly complaining about them.

When are you going to realise that no one in the forum really cares about the sleepless nights you spend worrying about food hygiene!...
Get over it and let everyone live as they want, as long as they are happy.
I suppose the frozen microwave meals you are used to wouldn't taste too good if left out of the freezer for several hours so I can see why you think others should be so concerned.
Go have a shower and brush you teeth while you are at it.
You give English people a bad name with your pedantic behaviour!...

At Isla del Rosario the flys shared our lunch... But since there was plenty to go 'round, neither myself nor my cousins worried bout it. We just splattered them into the soup. See the pic on the bottom left.

Culture
In Colombia the people sell prepared foods on the streets, small shops and resturants. For the most part the peolple preparing the food, keep things as clean as they can and do not sell people a bad product it is not in their culture to do such a thing.

On the other hand I have been to London and New York. The attitude of some of the vendors is "I do give a shit" and will sell you bad food on purpose.

london'male' ? The sentences in quotes are yours

"I am not living in London I am in Colombia". Now then, since I am living near London at the moment I am glad that you are in Colombia. And when I go to Colombia again, please return from whence you came.

By the way, your command of English is dismal, do you not have a dictionary, or a spell checker. "It is actually important". Exactly! Philistine!

"Educating A Colombian" you arrogant piece of worthless faeces, you faceless denigrator of people whom you would be better off emulating. You need educating and quickly.

"Lets try to pass on this beautiful aspect of our culture that has saved so many lives in our countries", you toadying twerp, do you mean the way the English, French, Spanish and Germans went into other peoples countries and educated them, by virtually annihilating most of those who opposed them?

"We have a moral obligation to pass this on to people that do not know about it" Don't know about it? You bumptious, beleaguered buffoon. Of course they know about it. IT IS A POOR COUNTRY REMEMBER!

The whole article that you have just posted is a pile of derogatory generalisation. I and I am sure many others must realise that there must be a more sinister and malevolent intention behind your lamentations.

I have a suspicion, which is brought about by your odd use of specific words and their arrangement that you are female? Am I correct, or half and half? Or are you just weird.

By the way, do you spend a lot of time in and around childrens playgrounds?

Bugger this, I cannot be bothered with this garbage, you obviously cannot take a hint, take a holiday. Afghanistan and Iraq are nice at this time of the year.

Each time you post anything of a similar nature I will tear both it and you to pieces.

Im with you JamesVH, all i have to say is: For goodness sake Londonmale, what are you doing in Colombia anyway? I think you should be categorized as a personna non-grata. Personally, I find this place extremely attractive, finding fairly safe and extra clean places is easier than you think. I really dont get where your comments come from, there is nothing filthier than street markets both in Soho and South London (No offense there, London is one of my favorite cities ever). If I were to decide where I am from Id definitely say Colombia. (Ive lived here for ages). Learn to cope with the differences, your comments are obviously destructive criticism, and if you cant then just leave, i think this (or any other) country would be better off without people like you. Listen to JamesVH's advice, ever thought of Iraq or afghanistan? maybe thats too mainstream for you, why not try Haiti?

Dying from food left out I got a chuckle from that!

*Disclaimer*: I am NOT recommending this, but . . . a friend said that in his family, when he was little (he is about 52 now), they scraped the dinner's leftovers into a large pot that they kept on the back of the stove. On Saturdays, they would heat this "vat" up and eat the mixture as a sort of stew or soup. Personally, just thinking about this makes me queasy, even to the point of gagging. HOWEVER, this family did not die from it! I met another woman whose family did it as well, and none of them perished.

Makes you wonder . . .

constancia You have never eaten left overs? Wow!! you must be royalty.
Is the same thing but me mixed rather that eating it all apart. is called "calentado" and we usually put it on top of "Arepa",
funny, cause i use to be waiter in San Francisco and i noticed that in the 5 countries i already lived Canada and USA ask me for doggy bags most of the times more than Colombia Japan or Europe.
and they did not die from it either.

I always wondered how come animals can drink water in troughs or puddles without getting sick but a human can't. There were plenty of days when the troughs on my ranch looked inviting but I resisted.
