mrgizmo says on Sep 10, 2007, 08:51: LA MONA thank you for those links. People here in California always ask me if Colombia has anything else other than Bandeja Paisa and this links will be helpful. I love Bandeja Paisa but unfortunately here in California seems to be the only popular dish that identifies Colombia. I've always said that if I had the financial means I would open a Colombian restaurant and make its menu as popular to Americans as Mexican food or Italian. Most Colombian restaurants here in L.A. only cater to a Colombian clientele. Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

mrgizmo says on Sep 10, 2007, 11:14: Monpirri I've had the opportunity to eat Ternera a la Llanera many times in Villavicencio, Acacias and Puerto Lopez with Joropo music in the background. There are many dishes besides Bandeja Paisa. I wonder how many Paisas know what Cuchuco con espinazo tastes like or mazamorra chiquita, or how about Cubios and Chuguas in a cosido....Does anybody know what that is? mrgizmo says on Sep 10, 2007, 11:32: Monpirri - Cubios is an ugly-looking root looks like a turd and chuguas look like cherries but are slimy, they usually prepare this in a COCIDO with potatoes, carrots, corn, cabagge, etc. like a STEW. I didn't like it but my family members loved it. Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

mrgizmo says on Sep 10, 2007, 11:46: it's something that definitely you'll never find in el Exito or Carulla it has to be at La Plaza. And the last time I had it was when I was a kid (Centuries ago) but I did see it at a friends house in Sopo, she had it in her garden and one was sticking out of the ground, it grows like a potato, I had never seen one since childhood so it brought back pleasant memories even though I didn't like the taste of it. Hey great picture, was that in Bogota? 7 de Agosto? Behind every successful man, there's a nagging woman 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Monpirri says on Sep 10, 2007, 11:53: They say all the all those vegetables are good for you even if they taste nasty. They say the same thing about spinach. I cannot remember but potatato, yuca, ñame and the ones you've mentioned have a particular name. The life spam of a taste bud is ten days 0 funny, 0 helpful. |
