S.A. Qualifiers and Euro 2008 Games in Medellin

Hi all,

I will be heading to Medellin for the first time in June (7-23) and I thought this would be the best place to ask about any good spots in town to watch the big games during my stay. My beloved Seleccion Colombia will be playing away twice and my European travelmates will want to watch their countries play in the Euro tournament. Of course we would love to watch the games at a local spot with a good atmosphere.

Can anyone suggest some good sportsbars to catch futbol games?

Thanks in advance!

Hi, VerdeNYC. I am Paisa (I live in Medellin), and there's a bar in Belen, is next to "Hamburguesas del oeste", and they have many international channels. Perhaps there you and your friends can have a great time.
Welcome to Medellin, and like angelcanada said don't worry you will find many places when you are here, if not, people from Medellin is so nice and kind and we will help you and wherever you ask for information you will find it.

Actually, say in Cali for a game at noon like the Eurocup will be there's not too many good sports bars like you'll find in north america/Europe. However, envigado did seem to have some great set-ups when I was there during the world cup.
I remember driving out to many of the clique spots in Cali to find a good place to watch a particular colombia-germany match 2 years ago and didn't find 1 good place, had to drive back to my dad's place which wasn't bad because he has a good set-up but I wanted to be with other fanatics (skipping out on work like you find here in Canada).

Now if the game is on a weekend or an evening it's a different story

Watch the games in El Obelisco... thats where everybody watches "soccer" games here in Medallo when the games are on TV, they even mute the TV commentator and give you a real paisa narrator, El Paisita de Oro "Munera Eastman".

Champions near the towns of Laureles and Belen. Actually, 80 and 29 streets.
The place is small but very cool! Got a laid back atmosphere. I went there today and met the owner.
