I Would Also... obtain a letter from your doctor stating that he did in fact prescribe the Rx for you. Mrs. Gator brings legitimate Rx into the USA when we visit and return to Colombia with no problems-probably in access of 12 trips in the past several years.

You can always try this:

"Si tiene la medicina, tengo la plata."
If you have the medicine I have the cash.

or, God forbid, the police are involved:

"Yo tengo una prescripción. ¡Sincero!
I have a prescription for that. Really!

Prior to 9/11, it was easy to bring Meds in and out... now, say if you are shipping Meds to the states you need to have a copy of your prescription placed in the package. I would assume you will need the same(actual copy of the precription) if you carrying them on a Plane, if you want to avoid a hassle. People at Airports have had their Meds confiscated without documentation. Definetely if its a controlled substance here in the USA...

Can't Give An Exact Price But.... in my younger days I was an avid SCUBA driver and was constantly getting a middle ear infection. The otic drops, Floxin I think, that cleared it up cost $38.00 USD ($96.900 COP) plus the cost of the doctor's visit to get the damn prescription in the USA.

In Colombia, OTC, the EXACT same thing cost $7.650 COP ($2.95 USD) the cost of common antibiotics like tetracycline and amphacillin show a similar savings. Be sure and shop a little because prices do vary.
Cafam and Exito have good prices. I would also carry the generic name of prescription medicines, in case a local pharmacist is unfamiliar with the USA brand name.
