COLDK thanks for the link. I just took a look at the Cali-Bogotá route and the road looks fine to me. The Alto de La Linea may present a problem when crossed at night time and because of the altitude (3240 m.) The picture galleries are lovely!

COLDK, when is the carnival? I've never been to Barranquilla and it's a possibility. My sabbatical is official now, I won't be going back to work until in August (six months of sabbatical plus 4 weeks of vacation) I'm planning my trip to Colombia aver this holiday seasons and will probably be arriving early February, for three months as the minimum.
