Rosario Tijeras

Hi all, everyone has been saying what a good movie this is and im just wondering if it will ever come to the US with like subtitles or something. Everyone I have talked to said it was a great movie and I should see it, but my spanish sucks so if there are no subtitles then it would be a no go. If anyone knows where I could get the DVD let me know. Thanks, AJ

If you live in Northern NJ I will let you borrow it. I could not find it on netflix. I went to Colombia last year and bought it from someone who solds dvd's from their home in Itagui. What I would do is ask someone who is going vacationing in Colombia to bring a copy back.

Smile if you are a thinker!

RE: LOOK On the net. I think I got it on ebay for like 15 with free shipping. It says it has English subtitles on the case and Chinese Hungarian and Spanish dialog. Great movie.

You should tell your fiance to get a bootleg copy of the novela Escalona before she comes, you can't get it anywhere and it's great.

I just bought a copy in Cali for 5,000 Pesos It played great there on the DVD in the rental store. Now it just hoses up in my laptop and my home DVD player. Maybe it got damaged being x-rayed 5 times in the Bogota airport? Do they really need 5 security checks to leave the country?

you should read the book Blondie Book Description

"Since they shot her at point-blank range while she was being kissed, she confused the pain of death with that of love." So begins Rosario Tijeras, Jorge Franco's eponymous novel of a violent, violated woman on the run in 1980s Medellin, Colombia. Her name-evoking the rosary and scissors--bespeaks her conflict as a woman who becomes a contract killer to insulate herself from the random violence of the streets.

Winner of Colombia's Dashiell Hammett Prize (2000), Rosario Tijeras is a work in the Latin American social realist tradition, possessed of fast and vibrant prose and poetic flourish. It has sold over 100,000 copies in Colombia alone. Translation by Gregory Rabassa, winner of the National Book Award for his rendering of Julio Cortazar's Hopscotch.

Just Go To Queens Go to Roosevelt Ave. or around there...I've seen it in stores around there. They sell bootleg movies in Junction Blvd. on the weekends. I got Mario Full of Grace there during the summer and it was fine.

Is it just me or do all the stories, shows and books from Colombia depress the shit out of everyone??? 100 Years of Solitude (or anything Garcia Marquez), Sin Tetas No Hay Paraiso, Rosario Tijeras... WTF is up with Colombian art??? Everytime I watch a movie or novela or read a book I want to hide in darkness for like a week! Could someone suggest something Colombiano to read that won't bring me one step closer to suicide?
