Rosario Tijeras the book vs movie

Has anyone read the book? I saw the movie before I read the book and can't beleive how much it was changed. I know they have to change it to make it fit a movie format but they changed the most important parts.

When I was watching the movie I couldn't understand why Ferney killed her. It did fit because it was Ironic that he did the same to her as she had done to others, but they didnt really give a reason for it. In the book, ferney dies before rosario and they dont explain who actually killed rosario.

Haven't read it.. I saw the book at B&N this weekend and came close to buying it. It looked very interesting! As far as the movie, is it on DVD yet?

It is available on DVD in Colombia, but not yet in the US if that is where you are...i saw the movie in Manizales, then bought the book on amazon quite a bit later.....the book is alot different in sequence than the movie like Rabeka posts.....good reading and excellent movie, only i dont read or watch anything back to back because one will ruin the story of the other...

I would defiantly recommend the book And to read it before you see the movie. It is not on dvd anywhere that I can find it I had to order HBO and watch it at 1am in the middle of the week to watch it.

Another good book by the same author is Paradise Travel. It has a jumpy sequence like rosario tijeras and the ending is odd ....

I didn't enjoy the book.For I didn't enjoy the book.

For me, a good story needs a deep sense of place. I thought this was noticeably lacking in the novel. The city of Medellin could have been its most compelling 'character'; instead it was little more than an amorphous backdrop.

I didn't really enjoy the movie. I was so psyched when my mom brought the movie for me from Colombia and then I watched it and it wasn't that great. I've watched it a couple of times but it leaves something to be desired. I don't know what. It's little too telenovela style. My friend explained as "Dude, that movie sucks, it had to be directed by a Mexican." Which I don't necessarily agree with but MAYBE

Problem with Mexicans? I said my friend had said that...so he must have aproblem with Mexicans. THe only reason I kinda agreed. Is because I think it takes a colombian to do COlombia. toodles.

"Which I don't necessarily agree with but MAYBE" suggests you are in agreement..but maybe, just maybe, i misread the intent.....There is nothing to prevent a Colombian to make a Colombian movie...but maybe your friend thought it sucked because all the Mexican director had to work with was poor Colombian acting? only a possibilty....toodles

My point is criticism should be directed toward the actual director or producer of the film as an individual, as opposed to an indictment of his/her nationality, or to imply that only mexicans are capable of doing bad movies.....
