Room For Rent in BEAUTIFUL House for CHEAP - Medellin

Hey PBHers!

im writing to tell you about this gorgeous house that is for rent in envigado. i would love to live there, but unfortunately its pretty far from my work and right now that is my main priority. Its located a but up la Loma de Las Brujas and is owned by one of the nicest women i have ever met! shes an artist so the design is so beautiful and peaceful complete with an amazing porch with a view of the entire city, a meditation room, and a living room. she doesnt speak much english, but she has had a bunch of foreigners live with her before for years!

it costs 400.000 pesos per month (about 200 USD) and includes EVERYTHING like water, electricity, phone, and wifi. this is a realllll good deal i promise you as someone who has been looking for a place for about a month now.

this is the place for you if you´ve come to medellin to write, think, paint, do anything creative at all, or to just rest and enjoy life. its close enough to poblado and other party spots that if you choose to do that its easy and accessible. its also right in front of a collectivo stop that brings you straight to parque envigado and the metro station.

if you are at all interested shoot me an email at sydney.malawer at gmail.com or call my cell at 301 447 5373.

ps: im so jealous of the person who gets to live here.

Envigado is a good place and Loma de Las Brujas is fine to stay at.

its cheap bc shes not overcharging like other places do and i found it through a friend who is colombian. i visited the place and the neighborhood is actually safe...everyone knows each other and looks after their neighbors. the woman has lived there alone for 14 years and has never had a problem.

i just talked to the woman again and she said she would also be willing to rent the whole flat for something like 900.000 pesos (450 usd), a flat that could easily fit 2 single individuals or a single and a couple or 2 couples or even 3 individuals who know each other and wouldnt mind having to go through another friend´s room to get to the main area. this place is big!

also she would want a commitment for at least 3 months, so if youre planning on being here for a while this is a perfect situation!

Thanks for sharing this great deal. I agree that although the place is probably beautiful that being close to where one works and/or plays is important. I paint and have zero creativity where I am in my space now. One day....

i think we should share deals like this more often! there should be a continuous forum or something for when someone finds an apt...can we do that?

"too bad I won't be down there until a couple months from now" is what I meant, lol. I definitely agree with the housing forum, there should be a separate one for just housing.

Yes, this area of Envagado is fine. I walk through Envigado many times a week, sometimes even at night. I've been known to walk from Sabineta to San Fernando Plaza in Poblado which is a good walk. I am going back and forth with getting a car (Prado or Sumo) - I'm afraid I wouldn't get the exercise I get with all the walking and taking the bus everywhere. Really, with gas at 8000 pesos/gal the price of bus fares is still at 1200 pesos which is quite the bargan. And the buses I find are clean and the people are friendly. But I like to venture out of town into the small villages and then I need a 4x4.. Larry

hey everyone! so im dumb and forgot to add something to the original post:

if you want to rent just the room, you have to be a girl bc its one bathroom and the woman lives alone

BUT if you want to rent the whole flat with a friend for 2 you can be whatever sex you want :) shes willing to rent the whole place and move to the place downstairs, so if you know of another person or 2 who need a place to live too all together its about 900.000 (meaning 450 for 2 people, 300.000 for 3) plus i believe about 50.000 per person for utilties, but im not sure bc those may be included.

sorry for missing that!
