Roldanillo

I'm swedish and has been working 3 months in Cartago and 8 in Pereira - both as an english teacher. Right now I'm applying for a new job next year. As most of the institutes and colleges here in Pereira don't hire teachers as this moment I have to wait until january for answer..

BUT - I've got an offer as an english teacher...in Roldanillo(!). Well, I don't know so much about Roldanillo more that what I saw last tuesday when I visited the school there. It look laid-back and certainly more bewautiful than Cartago, but have safe is it? As I'm swedish (blond, blue-eyed, 6 feet tall) I definitely don't will melt in the surroundings. I didn't have any problems in Cartago while I was living there, but - apart from it was terrible hot every day - there was very little to do and I was very bored some days. Is Roldanillo a more attractive place? What to do there?

People with experiences of Roldanillo - please give me some advices.. Do you think I shall accept the job offer?

Thanks in advance.

I doubt you will have any trouble in Roldanillo, I went there from Zarzal and visited the Omar Rayo museum.

Well I am Colombian but I see the town to be calm.

Roldanillo has another draw: awesome hang gliding. If you don't know how, there's no place to learn there. But if you do, this town hosted many of the Colombian nationals in past years and is a frequent destination for soaring safaris. The terrain and conditions are wonderful.

Also, if you like cheap, sweet, servicible, but not exportable, wine, Grahales wine from local vineyards as well as chilled artesanal vino is available all over the place. So you can drink if you're bored.

If you make it clear, by example especially, that you're a poor teacher, you'll probably be left alone. With visits to Cali and the coffee growing Armeia region, you should escape boredom for at least a year.
