Robi said wierdness yesterday.............

Now that we're describing wierdness around here, I'd like to tell you a recent story that began on PBH. Peter and Desi knew about this right from the beginning.

(Many details have been intentionally left out to make this story short for a blog and I'm not releasing any names.)

THIS IS A TRUE STORY!

Last January a new poster here immediately began enticing us with offers of bargains and friendship and then made this effort directly towards me on PM. Peter kicked his FARC ass off PBH immediately.

As a person from New York City I knew I was being setup and this was a con job right from the beginning. One person here Vicshere, also saw this was a setup and gave me a warning.

I was first contacted by DAS and was told that this is a gang working here in Bogota that has 'expressed kidnapped' two men and very sadly, having lured some woman tourist from europe with an offer of an apartment to rent, scopalimined her for days while she was raped hundreds of times.

This woman is a 'mental wreck' from her ordeal and as far as I know she may never recover from this trajedy. Scopalimine is a very powerful drug.

DAS wanted this gang bad.........they were not sure if they were FARC related or just plain criminals but as this went on it became obvious to me that they are FARC. You should see this guys email address.

We agreed that the boy was just 'the bait' and the setup guy, but that he had a whole group above him. I informed DAS I was going to pretend to be a naive tourist and go undercover to locate the higher ups within the gang.

The FBI out the of the U.S. Embassy called me next and warned me to stay out of this as they would not be able to help me if I was to get into trouble. They have no authority here.

But my thoughts about what happened to that woman that was raped and not wanting anything to happen to some other poor soul as well as being a human being led me to try and find these guys.

If you're a guy that can handle yourself in a bar than you're not going to be worried about something like this. Besides, I had an exciting life and I'm bored being retired. There is a very fine line separating stupidity, courage, and excitement.

DAS, FBI, and myself agreed that I was only to get information about identities and nothing further. So I began my friendship with this guy and we talked every other day.

These guys were basically schmucks and they made a lot of mistakes that anyone could see what they were up to. I believe I scared them away by acting too confident and pressuring them for information. Maybe it's because I'm a big guy in comparison and didn't show enough fear, or I believe they figured out I am either nuts or an informant when I kept asking to meet them in a bar in a bad ass section of south Bogota.

So one day the original young fella from Pbh tells me he has to leave Bogota for good, never returning, goodbye, so long, farewell, etc. The town he was going to is FARC controlled and he hasn't called me since. In my report to the FBI I was able to hand over all their contact information anyway.

Sorry I don't have an ending that includes an AK-47, but you must be careful here, especially if you're a tourist. Colombia is like a beautiful rose bush, ....great people, great women, great cuisine, beautiful scenery, but underneath are some thorns if you're not careful.

It's definitely not car1, this guy is colombian and car1 is an englishman. I know car1 and he would run this guy over in two seconds.

the original guy is gone and Peter deleted his account immediately and this was back in january; I was the only one to make contact.

The point is you have to be careful when making apartment arrangements. Know who you are dealing with if you're a foreigner.

it might be the same mayor as now, i don't know. we've had to spend most of our time these last years, away from home and have onhly been able to visit since our daughter is studying here in the states. hopefully (not really) she can live with her brotrher and we can return home (like i said, i really don't want her living with her brother, rather with us. we just don't want her studying in colombia and i don't want to spend the rest of her high school and univ years living here in the u.s. away from the family in colombia. only having these options really leaves us in a 'suck' situation.
