robbery

just to give a heads-up to people in medellin.... there are very few robberies in poblado, medellin but a friend of mine was robbed by two punks on bicycles on friday night at 9.30 outside Santillana gym below Oviedo mall.. so if you see a couple of teens following you on bikes around there at night watch out.. no doubt it will happen again as they were successful in robbing these guys of there bags..
its pretty rare around here.. of the more than ten thousand people ive talked to in the last five or so years less than ten have been victims of robberies around here... but over the last year seems to be more prevalent.

My partner just got robbed this morning at gunpoint on the bus from La Estrella to Itagui, They took his cellphone, mp3 player and ring as well as his money
He's pretty shook up right now
Didn't think this happened much in Medellin, but maybe things are changing
Friends of mine in Paraguay have been robbed on buses, it's a pretty common occurrence there now, hope it's not the case in Medellin

Ouch!

What kind of bus, Roquero? Was the robber one of the passengers, or was the bus physically stopped by the robbers? Any details?

I hate hearing stuff like this...

Cheers,
Terry

Terry I don't have the details yet, as they robbed his cell phone so I can't get a hold of him. He went to a cyber to send me a quick email and I could tell he was pretty upset- this is part of what he said in his email:

"TE CUENTO QUE HOY `PASO ALGO MUY GRAVE Y FEO, EL BUS EN EL QUE HIBA PARA LA U EN LA MAÑANA LO ATRACARON LOS LADRONES ME COGIERON AMI ESTABAN ARMADOS ME QUITARON EL MOVIL, EL REPRODCUTOR, TENIA EN LA MANO EL ANILLO DE ORO QUE ME DIO MI MAMA TAMBIEN SE LO LLEVARON Y EL DINERO QUE TENIA
ME DIO MUCHO SUSTO, BUENO YA PUSE EL DENUNCIO EN LA POLICIA ESTO NUNCA ME HABIA PASADO ME PUSE A LLORAR DE EL SUSTO TODAVIA ESTOY PENSANDO EN ESO
ENTREGUE LO QUE ELLOS PIDIERON Y BUENO ESTOY BIEN"

Sorry for the caps but I guess when you've been through an experience like that grammar isn't the first thing on your mind!

I hope to be able to talk with him this weekend to get more details

I just spoke to him- he was on the bus from Caldas, which he picked up in La Estrella on the way to Itagui.
It was around 6:30 AM and there were 6 other passengers on the bus
The robbers took everything from all of them
Hope this is not part of a trend
And he is Colombian, not a gringo- born and bred there

The buses in Itagui get hijacked with regularity. The robbers take control of the bus and rob everyone on it. Happened to my wife once.

Disclaimer: any comment I make is inane and is not to be taken seriously, and is so patently ridiculous that no one should take it seriously, even as an insult.
