Talked to my Novia tonight. Seems her and her cousin went to some ATM ovr by Versailles,(Sexta Ave) area lastnight. Around 10:00. Withdrew $156.00 from the ATM. Seems this car with 4 dudes, & a chick followed them home. (Seems like a long way to follow them). Now they live in Barrio Alto Guadelupe. When they pulled up to their gate. To open the fence pen to drive the car in. 2 dudes went to each window. Had their hands in their coat like they had a gun. Demanded they turn over their purses. Got her cousin for her Jewelry too. Two rings & a necklace. My novia said she had the ATM card in her back pocket. So they did'nt get that. They got the car keys tho. Both of them lost their cedula's & drivers license. Her cousin is a lawyer. Works for the Criminal Dept/Da's office. They got the license number. Called it in to the Police. Need to go Monday & file an official report. Like I told her she should'nt be going getting money at night time. Told her she needed to do it on her lunch break from studies. She knows she is very Lucky. Her Aunt has to get the locks changed and the alarm redone. But she still has her daughter. No house keys on the chain. Just thought I'd let people know. Don't get money late at night. And watch ya Chit !!!

Had thought a call was made and as the neighbor arrived home, the home burglary took place. Of course something like that cannot one cannot prevent. Your novia did everything right by not going solo, however......sorry for the event.

oneforyourmillion says on Oct 26, 2009, 07:45: I know I will catch hell for this. But this is a very strange robbery. The guys robbed her as she was going into the gate? No guard? The robbers would not know that there was no guards opening the gate. They may drug you and follow you home but typically they rob you at the ATM or on the way. The other thing is that the robbers would be in a car. That is strange. They other thing is that she had her ATM in her back pocket? She was setting on it? Not afraid of breaking it?

Other than it happend in front of his house. This sounds like a hit to me and not a robbery, those do happen but bringing a big clumbsy car to the front of the gate? I don't think so man.

Morrongo says on Oct 26, 2009, 11:04: Unfortunately being followed and then have the robbery at the gates of a Unidad, happens all too often here in Cali,my reasons, 1 the area where the ATM was ,is not police void and 2 they prefer to take the risk when the opportunity presents itself, if at the end of a journey so be it. I know of many robberies of this type, some with success ,some with a shoot out, of course these scumbags are not hoping for gated security but this does not seem to concern them either. PCL is quite right with his method of security, nothing is guarantee but there is a lot you can help yourself with

Buongone says on Oct 26, 2009, 14:45: It was USD $156.00 The security gate you are all talking about is a cyclone cage in front of her aunts house. You get out to unlock the gate, then drive the car in the Cycloned off area. It is like a cage around the front of her house. There is no guards. And thing is she knows that I don't go for these kinds of Ripoffs. It's gone, it's on her. There is a little Cantina next door to her Aunts apartments. For some reason awhile ago some car pulls up. Out jumps some dude with a machine gun. Blows off a few burps. Mow's down this dude. Next thing ya know. Turns out they got the wrong guy. The real owner fled town as soon as he could. Lock, stock and barrel. Pronto! Oh and by the way. She don't have a Colombiano. And she don't drink. She go's to school 6 1/2 days a week. Hence going to get the money at late night. She don't get home from school till 7:30 at night at the earliest. The money was sent last week. She just takes out small amounts at a time. She said the ATM by where she lives were shut down about a month ago. It's up from the park in Cali. (I want to say Parque Elephante) Maybe I'm wrong. With this Metro line building there has been a lot of traffic in her neighborhood lately. I know for a fact, it used to be estrado 5. But maybe 4 blocks away is 2-3. Thanks for the different opinions. I'll take them for what they are worth !!! Seeming her cousin works for the DA's office. I'll just have to wait for more info on this one. $156 USD. Come on??Chao

What do you need to get another license? paperwork wise. Would a passport do if you don't have a cedula? Seeming they took it. As it was inside her purse. In the almost 5 yrs that I've known her she has been robbed outside a Doctors office. Somewhere around Sexta, by some dude with a knife. Got $20 USD that time. She has had her Cell Phone stolen right out of her hand. As she was talking to me. Nice phone that time. Bought her a junky one after that. Then this last one episode. 3 ripoffs in 5 yrs. Hopefully they can catch these scumbags. Maybe by pictures, or the license number. If they are not onto something with the license # already.

oneforyourmillion says on Oct 27, 2009, 06:29: Sorry I have not been camped out on the internet to make a response. ;) So let me do so now. Yes I suppose robberies happen in front of your house for 3 million yea I can see that but you know what? How you get 3 million out of a teller machine? Oh well never mind the details. Getting set up at the bank by the teller for a large withdrawel in Bogota they hit you up on the street or down the street. Cali is a bit different I suppose as more houses but there are always guards and robbers that follow you home don't know if you live in an apartment with 40 guards or house with chicken wire fense. Why typically they get you before that but of course there are exceptions. OK? So for every 1,000 robberies that happen 5 happen in front of your house. jaja I stand corrected. Oh and getting shot in front of your house is different than robbed. Sicarios wait for you to return home and then do you, this is common.
