PBH / colombia (travelguide, pictures) / post |
My neice is at it again. As some of you know, I have a neice from Bogota that lives in South Florida. I would think with all of her Colombia friends down there she would be able to get an answer from them. But instead, Uncle Marcos has to try and resolve this urgent problem of hers.
She wants to be able to download Colombian music from Colombian web sites here in the US. I of course, don't even know how to download any ringtones period in that I have found that the 40 or so that are preprogrammed on my phone are more than sufficient to choose from.
So people, how does she do this. She likes Salsa, Cumbia, vallenatos. Can she do it? Is there a web site here in the US that has this music, or will she have to call a Colombian web site from her cell phone?
Any help would be appreciated.

Peter (Moderator) says on Aug 5, 2006, 11:14: google just google ringtones, there are a LOT of sites. Careful though, they often put monthly recurring charges on your phonebill that you might not even notice. Poor but snappy 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Gator says on Aug 5, 2006, 20:30: Tell Her Too... try LimeWire at www.limewire.com. Mrs. Gator seems to have down loaded a billion songs from this site and I keep telling her, No mas, por Dios! But is is free and it is in Spanish. Seriously, the wife loves this site. "Brevior Sltare Cum Deformibus Mulieribus Est Vita!" . 0 funny, 0 helpful. |

Gomezman5 says on Aug 5, 2006, 22:09: Thanks Peter.....Gator Peter, I have heard similar regarding the recurring charges. Also, I did Google ringtones, but the Latin music supply is very limited. There is very little salsa and no cumbia or vallenatos. I noticed also that different sites seem to have the same limited selection of songs. Typical internet type of thing when you are researching something.

tomtom33 says on Aug 6, 2006, 08:19: Limewire is a file sharing system. You need to download and install the software. Using that software, you search for what you want and download it.

aztec says on Aug 6, 2006, 08:40: Gator... ...better be careful using limewire or any other file sharing program. I live in a small town and this month two people here were sued for downloading copyrighted music. The community is a university town and probably attracted much more attention.

Gomezman5 says on Aug 6, 2006, 12:57: No.....forget the file sharing stuff. I have a hard time believing there isn't some web site available where you merely do what all these kids do. I was told they go on line, give their number, the company tests your phone for compatibility, you pick your ringer, and then it's just sent to the phone. The charge for the ringer appears on your phone bill. I would never tell my sister to download file sharing software just for her to get a ringer. Who the hell knows what problem she would aquire.
