Retirement to Colombia

I know that some of this has been discussed before but I do not remember seeing anything that matches my situation.

I am a U.S. citizen living with my Colombian wife in Colorado and I am getting ready to retire. My wife is a has a permanent residence in the U.S. However, we are strongly thinking (and planning) on retiring to Bogotá to live in either Chapinero, Occidental or Noroccidente zones. The cost of living is 1/2 to 1/3 of what it is in Colorado.

I looked at the Colombian Embassy site and there is little information on how someone can retire to live there.

Any thoughts from you all on immigration?

Thanks

You need... to prove you have an income that is ten times the Colombian minimum wage to receive a retirement visa.. If you wife is Colombian, as is mine, you need show no income for a spouse visa. This visa can be a little tricky, especially if you want to work, so I would make plans to sit down with personnel from a Colombian consulate before hand..
