restricted driving in Medellin

Is there restricted driving in Medellin? I asked Cidy to pick me up at the airport and she said she couldn't because her car was not allowed on the road on that day. Is this true? I am at the point now where it is better that I assume everything she says is a lie.

It's probably the pico y placa rule. It's a way to control smog and traffic in Medellín, they do it in Bogotá as well. What they do is they say license plates with such and such #s are not allowed to be driven on such and such days or you'll get fined. So you keep your car at home and take public transportation.

Yes, there is restricted driving in Medellin. They call it Pico y Placa. Depending upon the numbers on your license plate determines which day(s) you are restricted from driving.

The first time i went to Medelin I was getting ready to go somewhere and was told I needed to take a taxi because of the last number on the tag on my rental car... It couldnt be on the road fron 5-7 or 8 or something like that.... Its been taxis and the metro ever since....

6k for the bus? I pay 3500 or 4000 the most.
The bus is old and broken down, but it gets you there in 80 minutes!
Tip: don't take the bus if you're in a rush!!!

The pico placa rule has recently changed. You are now restricted from driving two days during the week rather than one. The new law also applies to "two stroke moto's" ...but only restricts your Moto movement one day per week rather than two.

The hours are from 6:30 AM to 8:30 AM and 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM (for both moto's and private vehicles)
