Restaurants in Cartagena

Any recomendations for nice restaurants in Cartagena (name and location please). Can be traditional or new. I'm looking for local or caribean cuisine, no Hard rock Cafe.

I'm about to grab my plane!!!

Gracias.

For great seafood try La Casa De Socorro CLL 8B-112 in the old barrio of Getsemani. My wife and I were there 4 times in July and everytime it was good. If you want good beef which many people don't realize that can be found in Cartagena try Restaurante La Bonga Ave Del Arsenal which is located in the vecenity of La Casa de Socorro. The State of Bolivar which is where Cartagena is located is known for having very good cattle (Not like Texas). Both restuarants have resonable prices. Good Luck.

Main drag on the way to Laquito... east side of main street..( can't remember the name at the moment) called La Olla...... nothing really fancy, large inside, separate air conditioned room, and very good food! My fav when I visit Cartagena mostly because it is within walking distance. The restaurant mentioned above, near the marina is very expensive... causes much indigestion.

Here are the some from Cartagena: Quebracho Parrilla Argentina Baloco Street No. 2-69 Historic Downtown near Hotel Santa Teresa; You can't miss the taxidermy cow in the doorway
D’Maurizio, San Francisco in the Hotel Santa Clara, La Casa de la Langosta, Juan del Mar, Centro, Plaza San Diego, El Portón de Santo Domingo , Chef Julián, Club de Pesca.Restaurante Dany El Churrasco Argentino, Bgde. Cl 5 2-104,

One of the best, but bring you pesos,Restaurante La Vitrola Centro Calle Baloco Calle 33 No 2-01, Mar De Las Antillas, in Getsemani ,Calle Larga 8B-26

One of our favorites , as terry2 said, is La Olla Cartagenera, Bocagrande Av. San Martín No. 5-100

I can recommend the last five and if you want to see what the locals eat at lunch, and diner, try El Rincon de la Mantilla on Calle de la Mantilla in the old city

I can highly recommend one of my favorites: La Cocina de Socorro. You can peruse their menu on their website:

http://www.lacocinadesocorro.com/home.htm

We'll split an appetizer (plenty for two), such as the Picada de Caracol...delightful.. After a tasty appetizer, I usually order my favorite dish: Cazuela de Mariscos Gratinados...scrumptious.

no problem.....
club de pesca is a total waste of time and money,
as are most of the advertised restaurantes.
boca chica is not neccessary
ask anyone there......
right on the beach in bocagrande, across from famous hotel caribe,
is "kiosko bony", every locals' favorite place for lunch or dinner.
also, right beside famous santa clara hotel, is "la cevicheria", very small, very good.

Right tom. it tells you you won't pay the high tourist prices. El Rincon de la Mantilla on Calle de la Mantilla in the old city is the same-all locals and a third the price. Since the original poster is on a vacation I lisited some of the better places I though he might like.

Whatever you do, don't eat at any of the restaurants in the Santa Domingo Plaza. Don't let those cute girls pull you in jajajajaj

I have one favorite called Tropicale which is located within 100 yards of Hilton hotel ib Bocagrande. It is an outside and built over the small lagoon. It is romantic with candles on the table. The prices are very inexpensive maybe $30 for dinner for two with fruit drinks. Alcohol drinks I believe are a little on expensive side. It is certainly a place to go to at night and has maybe 15 tables. You will not be disapointed
