Restaurant Angus Brangus in Medellin

The paras continue killing for control of Medellin and the surrounding turf. The demobilization underestimated the power of money and greed.

Why would the paracos work honest jobs which some may consider slave labor for miniumum wage when there is easy plata to be made without much work?

Murder rate up more than 20% in Medellin this year.

the mob is fighting amoungst itself for power now. a couple weeks ago there was a big increase in murders 1 night. it was a narco pelea...

It is proof that when these paramilitary chiefs were intown they were still running everything from inside the paramilitary prison. However, as soon as the 14 ex boses got shipped overnight to the USA and handed over to the DEA, the mafia bosses were cut off. The turf wars began, along with revenge for anyone involved in the bad peace deals. i imagine they are not too happy with getting shipped off to the USA when they were hoping to serve a max of 8 years in colombian prison. PARTY OVER.

The interesting thing is that they say the mafia keeps petty crime down here. This seems to be enforced by assasinations and disappearances. This is NARCO cowboy country, dont f/()# around. If someone tells you to drink aguardiente with a strong and agressive voice, and you find yourself in a shady environment, it might be a hint, drink or die!

Agree with Cali2005...

What some people do not seem to understand is that organized crime actually helps deter crime. When crime is organized, there are usually people you need to ask permission to make a move, people you have to answer to for your actions, and rules you must follow.

It is chaos right now.... there is a power vacuum, no rules, and this will probably lead to more bloodshed before it's all over.

The paracos bosses who were shipped to the US no longer have control of the day to day operations. In fact, they have no control, they are irrelevant.

Add to that, ambitious underlings who see their opportunity to move up in the business is now. Not to forget, it's payback time for a few people for whatever reasons along with vendettas on the agenda. And, this is not an isolated case, not a single organizations' internal problems, there were a few bosses extradited, no one real power house organization to speak of who could make the call for a sit down, at least not this early in the game.

Antonio López was assassinated at Angus Brangus, an exclusive restaurant in Las Palmas, not is some dirt poor barrio. This was probably done to send a message in addition to taking out someone who someone thought needed to get taken out.

The streets will be covered in blood until the new paracos bosses settle into their new positions.

It's defintiely not a good thing.

What? Paracos in general or that we have to wait until "new bosses settle into positions"?

You will always have organized crime, especially in Colombia with the cocaine market and all the money the market generates.

It is what it is.... So I will say that the bloodshed on the streets is not a good thing, especially for the innocent bystanders who get killed in the crossfire.

Jokes aside,
I posted it because I find incredible that this thing can still happen in Medellin and not in a bad barrio.
There is no way for a sicario to escape from there if not with the complicity of police.

And I find ridiculous that the spotlights are on FARC and that mr President keeps denying the problem.

Cerealkiller,

What are your solutions?

My plan is to stay out of the line of fire. Go ahead and fight the good fight for all of us. You are one brave soul.

There is nothing you, me, PBH, police, military, and the Colombian government can do about the present situation. If the opposite were the case, we would have all stopped it a long time ago.

They killed Pablo Escobar and it DID NOT STOP ANYTHING!

Sorry Cerealkiller, but we are not responsible for any of this, just commenting on my thoughts of the matter at hand, nothing more, nothing less.

All this AND I STILL PREFER LIVING IN MEDELLIN OVER THE STATES! .... Just dont get involved with the mob and you will probably be fine.

Landslides ARE more of a problem than the FARC
If you have driven on the highways in colombia outside major cities you will quickly realize Farc is not the major problem. You are more likely to get hit by a rock in a landslide, or a semi truck coming straight at you in your lane on a blind curve.
