Resident Visa

I've read about 3 different types of resident visas. Familiar, Qualified, and Immigrant. I' ve seen the requirements for the 1st 2, but the 3rd is a little mysterious. Does anyone have this type of visa, or know the requirements?

My Resident.... visa is QUALIFIED RESIDENT: This visa can be acquired by a foreigner that had temporary visa for a continuous period of 5 years. Persons that have Temporary spouse visa, Temporary for parents of a Colombian citizen, may apply for resident visa three 3 continuous years. This type of visa hallows multiple entrances into Colombia, will expires if you are absent from the Colombian territory for longer than two years. You must register with D.A.S, and obtain a “Cedula de Extranjeria. THE BIG PLUS-this visa has no expiration date..

RESIDENT INVESTOR: This visa can by requested by a foreigner who invests in his name, as established by decree and regulations of Colombian law regarding international investments. The amount of the investment can not be less than $100,000 (one hundred thousand dollars) and it must be registered in the Banco de Republica.

RESIDENT AS RELATIVE OF A COLOMBIAN CITIZEN: This visa can be requested by a Colombian by adoption or if he was a native born Colombian who acquired foreign citizenship and formally resigned Colombian Citizenship.

Visas that do not count towards acquiring a resident visa are: preferred, courtesy, business, crew member, temporary student, temporary entrepreneurship, temporary for medical treatments, temporary for official business, temporary for adoption, temporary visitor, tourist. There is no such than as a Immigrant Resident Visa.

I would go the the MRE web site http://www.minrelext.gov.co/wps/portal
Look under trámites then visas. They are also good about answering e-mails PROVIDED you make the inquiry in Spanish.

Thanks very much The fact is, it took much less time to get my Colombian wife permanent residency in the US, than it takes me to get the same status here.

I realize that that and 200 pesos will get me a tinto.

I Think Its Three The same amount of time.

Three years in the USA if married to a US Citizen

Three years in Colombia if married to a Colombian citizen

Persons that have Temporary spouse visa may apply for resident visa after three 3 continuous years.
